Here is an Antique Singer treadle sewing machine cast iron leg. Good condition. Wheels turn free. It was repainted in a cream color a LONG time ago, which seems to have prevented rust. There are no cracks. It has a nice ring when tapped. Please see the photos for the size of this item. These were sold in several different sizes. This was used on a full size Singer. CAST IRON MACHINE LEGS Stand Base Industrial Vintage Sewing Oak leg 'covers'
joe calcite INDUSTRIAL OAK& CAST IRON MACHINE LEGS STAND BASE This offering is for a set of cast iron sewing machine legs/ stand. BUT WITH A DIFFERENCE. I've seen the queen anne style legs, with the curve and'shoulder' part of the cast iron. In this case, the cast iron legs come with oak legs with a groove in the back to fit snugly over the iron and screw on from the rear. This gives you the option of using just the iron legs, or dressing them up with oak as your mood and decor dictate. To complete the transformation, I have included the trim pieces from the original upper cabinet so that the oak runs top to bottom. Unfortunately, the lower 5" of one is broken off, but placed on the side facing a wall or sofa, it would go unnoticed by most. Given the unique character, many wouldn't care. There are no cracks or breaks ... morein the iron. The paint was originally brown. But is now heavily worn with some light rust in places. The finish on the oak was dried out and flaking badly, so the rest of the finish was removed with a stiff brush and the exposed faces were clear coated. The wood itself is also worn. The legs measure 16" wide at the top, 13.5" wide at the bottom. Total height is 28" The stretcher is 23" wide, but can be replaced with a heavy threaded rod to place them closer together or further apart. Casters work but have a few flattened spots where its been dragged perpendicular to the wheels. Up for auction is a great looking antique cast iron wheel or gear recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It would be wonderful for any steampunk project. It has a grooved exterior rim which leads us to believe it may have had a padded piece at one time for hand turning a sewing machine. But just an educated guess. This measures 12" and has a piece that comes to a point that would have fit into the mechanism for turning something, but we do not believe it to be coffee grinder part. Antique and a very ornate cast iron sewing machine base legs. In the center is a monogram with intertwined letters L.I.M.CO. Dont know what company that is. Legs are 23 1/4" high. Bottom base is 19 1/2" across. Top frame is 15 1/4" across. Has an additional cast iron arm for added stability and support. On the bottom is also a piece of hardened oak wooden bar to stabilize the bottom area. It is in great presentable condition with original black paint. Light scratches and surface rust mostly on the bottom of feet. Each leg weighs 15 pounds. Would make a nice bench. Offering vintage set of cast iron legs for machine. Tool, desk or table. The'iron cross' motif has a strong industrial feel. The paint is in fair to good condition. Surface rust on most of the upward facing horizontal surfaces, as it was stored outside under a tarp. No pitting, though. Height is 29" Front to back measures 13" at the top, 16" at the floor.
