Up for bid is a beautiful quartersawn oak Mantel shelf. Shelf is 48.25" long x 15.5" deep and 3" tall with it's wonderful gallary. Shelf is 9/16" thick. I think this must have originally sat at the end of a Rail. One side shows where the rail probably fit in and the other side has a piece that sticks out and shows hinge mark. Pair of Antique Carved Quartersawn Oak Panels in Original Finish, Griffins, Urns
Here's a pair of highly carved antique oak panels with a beautiful original finish. Of considerable size. They each measure 12" wide by 24" tall with a maximum thickness of about an inch. The condition is outstanding with the exception of a nail hole and a small edge chip on one. Probably from the sides of an impressive sideboard or cabinet. I would estimate the date of manufacture to be from about 1880 to 1900. With classic florals, urns, vines and griffins. The camera flash makes the finish appear much more shiny than in real life. This was a well done roll top desk at the time it was built based on the high quality of the veneers and brass locking mechanism. Housing is 58" long x 30" deep and 20.25" tall. Tambor is in excellent original shape with housing in very good shape except for peeling veneer on one side of the housing in small veneer chip on top shelf all pictured. Lot of 6 Antique Solid Oak Wood Brackets Shelf Brackets Tiger Oak Quartersawn I’m baaaaack! I had the incredible opportunity to chaperone a school related trip to France. Germany and Belgium. It focused on American conflicts in WWI and WWII and it was heaven for a history lover like me. I was able to fit three items in my bag for you– look for them this week. I’m also still listing new items from my Indiana picking trip– lots of barn find and Amish farm finds from the two fellas that I visit every year. Enjoy! I have no idea what these wonderful oak pieces came from- was it furniture. Or parts of shelving- I don't know, but I took one look and I could see them being used as shelf brackets- what's not to love about solid oak with a kittler dark patina? There's 6 in all- as you can see, 4 small ones that match in size and two large ... moreones that match in size. The small ones measure 3 15/16" by 1 15/16" and are 1 1/2" thick. They each have two screw mounting holes- one on the long side and one on the short side. The sides are finished/varnished while the tops and bottoms are not- but they have the same patina color as the rest. You can see tiger graining on some sides. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition structurally, with rustic wear from age and use- scratches, scrapes, nicks, finish wear and dings. One has a shallow corner chip on the inside- the corner is missing but it's shallow and really hard to tell- it's on the inside part of the curve on the long end. The two lager ones measure 8" by 8 1/2" and are a smidge over 3/4" thick. These ones do not have mounting holes that go all the way through(like the smaller ones) each side has 3 small nail or screw holes(but don't go through) from whatever they were once attached to. You may need to drill holes if you plan to use them as shelf brackets. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition. ANTIQUE GLOBE WERNICKE QUARTERSAWN OAK STACKING BARRISTER BOOKCASE TOP
This is a quartersawn oak top that I believe fits a Globe Wernicke stacking barrister bookcase. There is no label. It measures aprox. 33 3/4" wide x 11 1/4" deep on the bottom x 12" deep on top x 3 1/4" high. It has a burn mark on top, not real deep, otherwise it is in good condition.
