This silver plate covered butter dish manufactured by Hartford Silver Co.stands on 4 feet and has a place on the cover for a monogram but none has been added. This is an old piece and has been well used. On the bottom there is a circle with the company name and Quadruple plate. the number 25105 is also stamped on the bottom. There is some silver loss and a lot of spots on the bottom of the butter dish. It does have a spot to hold a butter knife. The piece measures 7 inches high. 8 inches wide with handles and 6 1/4 across without the handles and weighs 1.23 lbs.

Underplate is connected to the fancy handled bowl and cover with spoon section. Gold shows wear, but is very finely detailed in design. The lid fits quite nicely and it is fairly easy to imagine a tie in with a bird and bunnies. but there are also several differences, so we shall leave it up to you to decide. Alas, whilst there is a mark, it is virtually impossible to ascertain. It looks like the original design was a steel lid and foot with potentially burnished silver plate in the middle. This piece stands 7.75" high to the top of the finial. The main bowl measures about 4 1/8" across. We would suggest that there are also several missing items. One, obviously is the forks and/or spoons. ... moreThe other one would be a glass insert, we would suspect. There is a considerable amount of rusting and/or tarnish. Much of which doesn't appear that it will be removed very easily. If at all. The bowl also appears to tilt to one side, but it doesn't look bent, simply a bit odd. Antique Christofle France covered vegetable bowl silver plate banded ribbon
Gorgeous antique silverplate covered vegetable bowl made by Christofle. France, probably from the early 1900's. Lid and bowl are both marked and there are 2 additional marks I can't quite make out. One is similar to the horseman chess piece with O and C on each side, the other looks like a set of scales with O and C on each side. Very heavy pineapple finial sits on a sunflower like burst and around the rim of the lid and on the handles of the bowl are ribbons banded over thick lines. The handles of the bowl, where they meet the body, are high relief leaves. Both pieces are in great condition, the lid has very light surface rub marks from the years of polishing, no dents. The bowl has very light rub marks from polishing and slight rub marks on bottom and inside the bottom of the bowl there are very slight scratches(picture 10) an area ... moreabout 2" by 1/2" I can also feel a slight, slight dimple, but it's almost impossible to see. Handles are great, no looseness. Handle to handle it measures 11" diameter of the bowl is 8 7/8" depth is 3" Total height with lid is 6" Total weight is 3 pounds 10 ounces, very heavy piece. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. This is an older piece and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. 1953 was a very good year for Mr. Belman. However you could be the winner of this most beautiful silver plate covered dish/bowl oval carrier offered in my auction-I presume that this was an award for Mr. Belman's June flight Beechmont in 1953. The covered bowl carrier is two piece with overall dimemsions of 12" by 9" The glass bowl bottom should not be more than 7" by 4 1/2" The top of the bowl can flare out to 9" by 6" at a height of 2" max.This item is very substantial and has a weight shy of 3 lbs. By the appearance it is obvious that the silver coating is heavy gauge. There has to be at least 2 oz's of silver applied to the metal which could be copper. The item has very nice handles and decorative trim. Doubt that it was ever used. The silver sheen is in excellent condition. It could be polished ... moreto a higher luster if so desired. I purchased this item from an estate some years ago, polished the silver and had it wrapped with saran wrap. That kept it in very good condition. It is now time to pass it along to someone that might get some enjoyment using it for formal dinners. Would even make a great wedding gift for the right person. Also the lid has a flat surface on the top and when removed from the lower section and turned over it too could be used as a serving holder with another glass bowl of the same size.
