A mustachioed, medieval knight in Robin Hood hat appears to be hunting an antlered deer. It looks like they are leaping over a fallen tree. Eastlake Spoon Carved Victorian Pediment Fretwork Tiger Oak Panel
Large. Salvaged panel with spoon carved Eastlake details, 2 medallions, pierced fretwork with clovers, 4 columns. Measures 13.5 inches tall in the front and 13.25 inches in back for one long side angles back slightly. The piece measures 45.5 inches long. Has a one inch ledge. Beautiful dark tiger oak. There are two holes on the ends(one each end) and one minor chip on the very end(see photo) On the back there are scratches like someone scratch the wood when taking something off- perhaps something that was at one time behind the open fretwork. There is also a red stain- perhaps the remnants of old glue. On one of the smaller panels, there are couple of small chips on the front(see photo) Other than this, the fretwork is in great shape. This is an oak panel with carved skirt that was salvaged from a large Victorian era roll top desk. It has a nicely carved skirt or trim around the perimeter. It measures 47 1/4" wide x 24 3/4" deep on the outside ends and is 22 1/4" in the center. From the back side it appears to have a split or crack but there is no sign of it extending to the front. Overall it is in good condition. Fed Ex shipping to the lower 48 states would be 39.80 including insurance. This is the lift up door/panel off of an early oak upright piano. Beautifully decorated panels. The tiger oak wood is just fantastic. A great piece to refurbish. Could be used for many things; wall hanging. Part of a headboard, over a fireplace, a table, many many options. It is 59" long, 21" high and 2-1/4" deep.
