Vintage Library Card Catalog File Brass Rod Knobs - Oldies !!!
These are the heavy solid brass knurled nuts that are usually on rods but these are not. These are frequently used to show on the outside and the rod not used anyway. Anyway- eight are the threaded type. Two tapered plug, no threads, knurled section slightly thicker than threaded ones. 13/16" dia, project 1'2" off vertical when installed, have a slightly"domed" face. These are the real deal for that classic look. Litttle bit of paint, lot of dirt but they polish up nicely.

Antique Library Bureau wooden drawer slides for Library card file ca. 1904
Offering a wooden card stopper/ interior slide/ card support from a library card file drawer. And the metal bracket which attaches it to the slot in the bottom of the drawer. The wooden slide keeps the library cards from falling down in a drawer which is not full. It is thicker at the bottom than the top. Has two springs in the base, and a information sheet appears to be sealed into the front(by varnish or shellac? The information sheet has the following data: MANUFACTURED UNDER ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING U.S. PATENTS OWNED OR CONTROLLED BY THE Library Bureau. New York Boston Philadelphia Chicago Washington London A list of 25 dates follows, starting with Mar. 15, 1892 and ending with May 26, 1903. Lastly stated: OTHER PATENTS PENDING Due to this last information, I can only suspect that this item dates from 1904, as the sheet would be ... moreupdated as other patents were granted. The metal bracket has an impression stating: PAT. SEPT. 24. 1901 The bracket has some surface corrosion. I sanded off some of it to be able to read and photograph the inscription. The bracket goes under the drawer, and the screws attach to the slide. see photo) Hoping someone has a use for this. Perhaps for a library card cabinet restoration. I have 5 of these which I do not need. Shipping by USPS Priority Mail.
