Antique Hand Carved Oak Wood Cabinet Door Ornate Thistle Arch Pattern Victorian Description: Up for sale is this estate rescued old door. It looks to be a door off of a cabinet of some kind. It measures 24 3/4" x 17 1/2" x 2" including the knob) As you can see from the photos this cabinet is carved by hand. The carving is rough and irregular but still beautiful in its intricacy! The pattern looks like it depicts a thistle plant inside of an arched design. You can also see that there are a couple of pieces missing from the design including one of the oval shaped designs in the top left and possibly two rectangle shaped pieces at the top of the columns below the arch. The knob also looks to have been hand carved. This door still has the original hinges which are rusted in place. The back of the door looks as though it had 2 cross ... morepieces which have been removed. The door does have some cracks developing in the bottom as you can see in the photos. ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT HAND CARVED FURNITURE PEDIMENT PIECES
Up for bid is several pieces of an antique solid walnut furniture pediment or gallery from a Victorian or Eastlake era piece of furniture. The pieces are primitively hand carved as well as hand made. And although there are a few missing pieces, there do seem to be enough to create a nice gallery around the top of a bureau, buffet, dresser, and/or etc. The pieces are approximately 1/2" in thickness by an overall length for the longest center piece of about 21" On some pieces there is carving on both sides. My guess is the carver was practicing or was doing"do overs" in order to get the best look that they wanted to achieve before finishing the piece. The top center carving piece does have a chip or missing piece of wood, though it does not take away from the overall glamour of the pieces. Two Antique Hand Carved Polychrome Architectural Brackets Circus Wagon Carnival
These nicely carved polychrome fragments of solid tulip poplar were salvaged from some very impressive and decorative early 1900s construction. They have no certain provenance. But look like circus wagon fragments to me. Each measures an impressive 24” long with one being 6 ½” wide and the other 5” each is 1 1/8” thick. The carving was all done by hand and the surface is a dry, stable and colorful blend of red, green and gold(Santa’s sleigh? You will note old rusty nails and raw edges where they broke away. Antique Furniture Salvage Piece Hand Carved Wood Table Base or? I'm not quite sure what this beauty started life out as- but it was just too pretty to pass up. It's an antique furniture part of some sorts- made of solid wood. It has carved details that very much remind me of the Eastlake era. I"m wondering if maybe it was a hall tree stand- as you can see that it was cut from whatever used to be at the top- there's no indication of anything actually attaching there- no screw holes, etc. so I do believe that it was cut from a larger piece- see photos 17-18. I thought it would make a lovely table base for you- or maybe the base for a pedestal for an item that you want to display- it's so pretty, it deserves a new life! You would have to figure out a way to attach a top to it if you plan to make it a table or pedestal, though, ... moreas there's no hardware holes. It's in excellent solid and sturdy structural condition. The finish is in really nice shape too, with only minor nicks, scratches, scrapes and finish wear that you really have to look for. You could minimize with a little polish, but I really don't think that it's necessary. I'm showing in photos 13 and then 14 that it's missing two"rosettes" for lack of a better word- right next to each other. The other side has its two rosettes- that's what I'm showing in photo 14, so if you do not want to replace the missing ones, you could turn that side to the back. No other issues that I can find- I can't say enough about this one- it is oldoldold and very nice. It measures 22" long going straight across foot to foot, and there's 17" measuring one foot to the foot next to it. It measures 20 3/4" tall and weighs 5 1/4 lbs. I'm not sure of the wood- it's not oak for sure, and it's a hardwood, so supersize and see what you think. These rich and powerful survivors once supported a middle to late 1800s Chinese stand and are hand carved from dense and richly figured Teak or Rosewood with scattered oyster shell inlays. The tops take the form of roaring lions and the feet are traditional ball and claw. The legs have many mother of pearl inlay losses. Shrinkage cracks at the base and chips and loss to the carved details. The backs have been sawn so they could be displayed fairly flush on the shelves of the consignor’s library. Antique Hand Carved Dark Walnut Floral Furniture Applique
This auction is for a beautiful. Handcarved dark walnut floral furniture applique that measures 5 3/4" x 5" A hook was installed on the back for hanging purposes. It protrudes ever so slightly through the front of the carving. The resultant hole wold not be noticeable if the hook was removed. Striking Antique 19th Century Victorian Era Hand Carved Wood Pediment Panel
Striking Antique 19th Century Victorian Era Hand Carved Wood Pediment Panel Ooooh. Got very lucky this week at one of my favorite flea markets. I have just about everything, from the very old and primitive to the very unique with some fabulous folk art thrown in too! I’ll be listing all week, so keep checking back! I'm telling you. I have some reeeeeeeally cool old pediments, architectural pieces and furniture parts this week- you want to check back for my other listings too! This one is so old, and so beautiful, I just can't say enough about it. It's also somewhat of a mystery to me. It was clearly a panel- my gut tells me in a cabinet rather than architectural(unless it was a built in, which it clearly could have been) You can see a smooth 1/4" border all around where the decorative texture of the center stops, and small ... morenail holes(like I'm showing in photo 13) all along the border from whatever it used to be mounted into. That part I GET. The mystery to me is on the backside, though, where you can also see a row of small nails all around, and there's teenie pieces of a black material( see photo 21) stuck under some of those nails still. Also, in the center, is a round piece of very hard old leather nailed into place- I don't THINK it has to do with the mounting of the carved pieces on the front, I can't be sure, but it appears to have had some other function at one point in time. Could this have been the front panel of a cabinet door with a fabric(or maybe padded fabric) door interior? I don't know for sure, and it's not telling me! I can tell you as of late, it's been hung as a decorative piece, as there's a modern day picture hanger on the back. The body is made from solid piece wood, with a beveled edge on three sides that bevels down to the smooth border with the nail holes. The fourth end, which is a short end, is not beveled. It has an extra piece of wood running the length of the wood which is not part of the solid body- see photo 17. You can see a teenie

Antique hand Carved Victorian Gothic Mahogany Column Capital Architectural Piece
This exceptionally nice architecturally inspired column measures 35 ½” tall x 13 ¼” square at the capital x 11 ¼” diameter at the carved cushion base. All of the wood is solid mahogany EXCEPT to very top ¾” of the 10 ½” tall capital which is mahogany veneered birch. The veneer is lifting on the corners as shown. As the photos show. The mahogany has rich grain and the capital is DEEPLY carved with naturalistic leaves and flower blossoms and crisp volutes on the corners. You will note old age/shrinkage cracks in the capital but no loss. The finish is a dry old refinish from many years ago and there are traces of old black finish in the details.
