This ca. 1860-1875 solid walnut hand carved pediment in the rococo revival manner measures43 1/2" wide x 23" tall x 2" deep with the pierced and fruit carved removable section measuring app. 25" x 8 1/2" tall. The piece is in fairly well preserved condition with dry old refinished surface and some sratches. Gouges and scrapes from a recent move. There is a glued breaks in the openwork on one end, but no apparent loss. It most likely graced a stately bedstead or armoire and has a great rich look. Antique Hand Carved Oak Wood Cabinet Door Ornate Thistle Arch Pattern Victorian Description: Up for sale is this estate rescued old door. It looks to be a door off of a cabinet of some kind. It measures 24 3/4" x 17 1/2" x 2" including the knob) As you can see from the photos this cabinet is carved by hand. The carving is rough and irregular but still beautiful in its intricacy! The pattern looks like it depicts a thistle plant inside of an arched design. You can also see that there are a couple of pieces missing from the design including one of the oval shaped designs in the top left and possibly two rectangle shaped pieces at the top of the columns below the arch. The knob also looks to have been hand carved. This door still has the original hinges which are rusted in place. The back of the door looks as though it had 2 cross ... morepieces which have been removed. The door does have some cracks developing in the bottom as you can see in the photos. This is the apron f rom an antique table that was about 68"X48" It was an oval table. So some of these are more curved since they were on the ends and the straighter ones were the sides. They are mortise and tenon. One piece has a n edge that is broken off near the end on the back. Please look over pictures) These are almost 6" wide at the widest and each piece is about 23"2 3.5" lo ng. these are r eally HEAVY! They will cost at lea st $35. to ship. Maybe more! They are about 30 pounds before packing! There are a few missing edges. Also include are the pieces that you screw to the bottom of your tab le. T hat slide into the grove on the back of these to hold the apron on your table. I think these are oak. But I am not a wood expert. So not sure. Antique ORNATE Carved BURLED Wood VICTORIAN PEDIMENT Secretary Door Hall Tree
Up for auction is this fabulous antique Victorian carved wood arched pediment being offered"as is as found" It is in wonderful condition, though some of the burled veneer is lifting and there is one spot on the top edge of the moulding where it meets the center piece that is chipped(as seen in photo 7) It is very ornately carved with exquisite details. The 2 drop turned finials on either side of the center medallion are intact. Not sure of the wood, it is thick and solid somewhat speckled with darker spots. Exhibits superb craftsmanship. Beautifully curved multi-layer moulding. The underneath has one dowel on the bottom and 2 holes on the other side where it sat on the original piece of furniture which is long gone. This would be wonderful on a secretary, hall tree or even above a doorway. There are different layers giving it greath ... moredepth and interest. Measures along the bottom edge underneath 33 3/8 inches long, 1 inch thick and with the moulding at the sides about 2 1/2 inches thick; it is 16 1/4 inches in total height, the first lower arch is 2 5/8 inches thick, the total depth it would stick out if against a wall would be 5 5/8 inches. Antique Eastlake Victorian SOLID WALNUT Carved& Inlaid FURNITURE FRONT PART The overall length is 24" and the width is 2" The thickness is 3/4" measurement is 13 3/4" and the tapered tips that extend into the chair slots are just a bit more that 1/2" long. This is a typical American Eastlake Victorian furniture part. The long grooves are typical as are the style of the carvings that either represent flowers or cherries. Also the strip of fancy burl grain which is overlaid in the 1" x 8" center rectangle is typical of Eastlake Victorian style. I do not know what piece of furniture this item was attached to. There is a wooden(walnut wood also) mounting bracket on the back and deep-set dadoes on each end that were used for mounting. Condition: This piece is in relatively good condition for its age. Striking Antique 19th Century Victorian Era Hand Carved Wood Pediment Panel
Striking Antique 19th Century Victorian Era Hand Carved Wood Pediment Panel Ooooh. Got very lucky this week at one of my favorite flea markets. I have just about everything, from the very old and primitive to the very unique with some fabulous folk art thrown in too! I’ll be listing all week, so keep checking back! I'm telling you. I have some reeeeeeeally cool old pediments, architectural pieces and furniture parts this week- you want to check back for my other listings too! This one is so old, and so beautiful, I just can't say enough about it. It's also somewhat of a mystery to me. It was clearly a panel- my gut tells me in a cabinet rather than architectural(unless it was a built in, which it clearly could have been) You can see a smooth 1/4" border all around where the decorative texture of the center stops, and small ... morenail holes(like I'm showing in photo 13) all along the border from whatever it used to be mounted into. That part I GET. The mystery to me is on the backside, though, where you can also see a row of small nails all around, and there's teenie pieces of a black material( see photo 21) stuck under some of those nails still. Also, in the center, is a round piece of very hard old leather nailed into place- I don't THINK it has to do with the mounting of the carved pieces on the front, I can't be sure, but it appears to have had some other function at one point in time. Could this have been the front panel of a cabinet door with a fabric(or maybe padded fabric) door interior? I don't know for sure, and it's not telling me! I can tell you as of late, it's been hung as a decorative piece, as there's a modern day picture hanger on the back. The body is made from solid piece wood, with a beveled edge on three sides that bevels down to the smooth border with the nail holes. The fourth end, which is a short end, is not beveled. It has an extra piece of wood running the length of the wood which is not part of the solid body- see photo 17. You can see a teenie

It is 22-1/8 inches long. 6-3/4 inches high in the center, from a straight line at the bottom corners to the top is 9-1/4 inches and ¾ inches thick. The round rosette is 3 inches in diameter. The piece is as found with some residue of the original finish and some age appropriate dings and rubs on the edges but no cracks or warping. Antique hand Carved Victorian Gothic Mahogany Column Capital Architectural Piece
This exceptionally nice architecturally inspired column measures 35 ½” tall x 13 ¼” square at the capital x 11 ¼” diameter at the carved cushion base. All of the wood is solid mahogany EXCEPT to very top ¾” of the 10 ½” tall capital which is mahogany veneered birch. The veneer is lifting on the corners as shown. As the photos show. The mahogany has rich grain and the capital is DEEPLY carved with naturalistic leaves and flower blossoms and crisp volutes on the corners. You will note old age/shrinkage cracks in the capital but no loss. The finish is a dry old refinish from many years ago and there are traces of old black finish in the details. It has some superficial scratches and scuffs that will disappear with some lemon oil. The piece comes in 3 sections for easier, more affordable shipping.
