Set of 4 Victorian Cast Iron Table Legs/Vtg Sculpted Horse Leg/15" Tall/Original
Set of four Victorian cast iron legs. Sculpted in the shape of horse legs. Lovely antique set of table legs measuring approximately 15" tall. Each weighs over 3 lbs and has four notches on top to screw legs onto a table. Bench, ottoman, chair or any number of wonderful creations you can make with these legs. Took many of the photographs with the legs upside down, hopefully to show them off better. Much of the off white paint is missing and there is newsprint stuck to the upper flat side of legs. Where paint is missing it looks as though there may be slight surface rust. But running my hand over one leg, it did not get dirty with rust, so it may just be the metal's natural patina. Lot of 4 Mid Century Modern LAGCO, Couch Legs, Chair Legs, Walnut (?) 5" Tall
I'll be damned if I can recall how or why I have these. I am a MId Century modern lover. And must have seen these at a flea market in my early obsessed days. My guess is that these are walnut. The color and grain look like walnut, and walnut is one of the hardest woods, necessary for a chair or couch. The legs measure 5" tall exactly excluding the threaded screws. The threaded screws measure exactly 1" On the opposite end of the screwside. The tapered legs each have a metal tab on their bottom. The metal tab allows the couch or chair to slide on a hardwood floor, minimizing the scratching that would happen otherwise. Each leg varies in condition but they are mostly the same. Note that in picture#3, the leg shows the manufacturers name LAGCO. The good news is that if you are using these for a restoration. I have for sale a Matching pair of Vintage/ Antique Finial Decorative Ornaments. They measure 4 1/2" tall approx. Without the screw. The base is 1 3/4" in diameter on both. Center diameter is 2 1/4" on both. One measures 1 1/4" high, the second measures 1 3/8" The top ball measures approx. 3/4' in diameter on both. Both finials are in great condition. No cracks or chips, the are a couple light scuff marks on one. Screws are tight in wood. Not loose. They have what appears to be a light red stain on both of them. Not sure type of wood. This has to be my favorite pair of antique Machine Age Industrial Cast Iron table legs. They are the smallest set we have ever offered and the most unique. Although they are smaller than most. They are very sturdy- they weigh in at 3.5lbs each. These tri-pod table legs can be used with either end up or down and they stand freely on their own both ways. Each leg stands 16 ¼” tall and spans 6” wide at the three footed end. The long flat bracket measures 7 ½” long. 1 ¼” wide, and has 3 holes for mounting screws. The other end measures ... more7 ¼” long from each end of the 2 mounting feet, and each of these feet measures 1” x 1 ½” The attached 3 rd leg measures 10” long from where it is attached and the foot on each one is 1 ¾” x 7/8” Each foot has a single hole for a mounting screw. The attached 3 rd leg has only the smallest amount of play where the screw is– it does not fold flat and is not meant too. These legs are in eggsellent condition with no damage– no cracks. Chips, breaks, or repairs. They have most of the original thick black paint left on them, but there are some areas of wear and chipped paint. The mounting brackets and feet have that light rust color which can be removed easy enough…no metal loss anywhere. Diameter at top around 1 3/4" The finish is not perfect, some wear and tear, including a white-ish streak/scuff on one that runs from the top down the leg around 10" The brass caps: one is missing, one has some discoloration and two have some hairline cracks.
