Lot of 4 Antique STEM CASTERS With WOODEN WHEELS With Swivel Inserts These casters have the insert that goes into the hole of the furniture leg. Then the caster is inserted into the insert where it snaps in and stays without falling out of the furniture leg when the furniture piece is lifted off the floor. The hardwood wheels are about 1 1/8" in diameter and about 5/8" in thickness. The stems are 1 1/2" long. 1/4" in diameter with a knob at the top that is 5/16" in diameter. One of the columns is missing the square cap at the bottom, two of them have a broken dowel in the back. One pillar has a small crack at the top left area and the inside nub of the spiral has broken off. Otherwise light wear and minor losses. There are a couple cracks in the columns but they are structurally very sound and solid. They measure 24 3/8" long and 5" wide at widest point. Lot of 4 Matching Antique Casters with Wooden Wheels
We've got another set of four matching antique furniture casters. This is a large. Hard-to-find set with wooden wheels and cast iron yokes/stems. They are the kind of casters that were commonly used on large pieces of furniture like bedframe legs. The wheels are about 1 5/8" in diameter and 11/16" wide. The metal stem that fits into the socket of the furniture is 2 3/4" long from tip to base. About 7/16" in diameter at the base, and about 1/4" in diameter at the tip. The center of the wheel is about 7/8" offset from the centerline of the stem. The stem on this type of caster generally would fit into a metal socket that is fixed inside the furniture leg. We do not have the metal sockets that match with these casters. These are nice. Antique casters in very good condition considering their age. There is a little ... moresurface rust on the iron parts. The wooden wheels turn freely on their shafts. Two of the wheels exhibit pronounced and attractive wood grain. One wheel has a small flat spot that is about 5/8" long. One of the other wheels has an even smaller flat spot and the center hole in this wheel has become enlarged to about 5/16" hard to measure) We tried to orient the flat spots on the wheels so that they are visible in the high resolution photos that accompany this listing. There is a little play through the middle. Each swivels. But are missing some ball bearings inside. These mount in a 1/4" diameter hole. They are hammered into place. Each has a 7/8" diameter wood wheel that is 1/2" thick. The stem measures 1-7/16" x 1/4" Total length is 2-3/4" tall. The wheel is 1-3/8" from the bottom to the top of the bearing collar.
