An unusual Teardrop/Coma shaped hand Axe. To hold this in your hand. To contemplate the rise, the ascent of man, the tool industry, just an amazing piece. A very Hefty Mid to Late Acheulean Hand Axe. The Artifact Dealer told me this group was found by tribesmen in Africa, Libya-Morocco border area. Lower Paleolithic, ca. 750,000-250,000 B.P. late Homo erectus. Material is a brown toned Quartzite. Ve ry Handsome. With a patina and also a Complete Specimen. Perfect condition, no breaks, very ancient. Probably wind polished and then a desert varnish covers it. A very decorative specimen.
