22 AFRICAN PALEOLITHIC BLADES tools, points, neolithic arrowheads prismatic
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1. I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE SELLING HOARDS OF"AFRICAN NEOLITHIC" IN BULK QUANTITIES. ONLY COMMON SENSE WOULD DICTATE CAUTION IN THOSE INSTANCES. I HAVE ONE FRAME LIKE THIS AND WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER. 2. I heard from some of you that the way I had it previously listed in the large and heavy frame added to high shipping costs. Therefore. I listened to you and removed the heavy exterior part of the frame, so it is now 10 x 12" If you buy this, you can mount it in your own frame. You'll see the unpainted edges to the this as this will not show once remounted. 3. These are original points from an old collection. I cringe when I see the bulk lots offered on ebay with endless ... moresupplies available. Really? 4. Description follows: THIS IS A GREAT FRAME OF 22 AFRICAN UPPER PALEOLITHIC PRISMATIC BLADES. A GREAT REFERENCE FOR THESE CAN BE FOUND ON THE UNIVERSITY OF BROWNSVILLE WEBSITE LINK THAT YOU CAN COPY AND CHECK OUT. THE LAST IMAGE SHOWN IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY. IT SHOWS SIMILAR MATERIAL AND IS FROM THE UNIV. OF BROWNSVILLE WEBSITE THESE ARE CLASSIC UPPER PALEOLITHIC BLADES THAT ARE MOUNTED ON A RED VELVET BACKGROUND. THE BLADES ARE GLUED TO THE VELVET. WHICH IS EXACTLY HOW I GOT THEM AND I KEPT IT. THEY COULD BE REMOVED, BUT I THINK THEY LOOK GREAT FRAMED. SIZE RANGES FROM 1-1/4" TO 2-1/2" LONG. FRAME IS 18" X 15.5" NICE PATINA TO THE STONE. BELOW IS ANOTHER REFERENCE ON THESE BLADES AND A LINK: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 CHECK OUT THE TWO WEBSITES I REFERENCED FOR YOUR INFORMATION TO THIS EXACT TYPE OF BLADE AND ITS REFERENCE TO THE UPPER PALEOLITHIC PERIOD. THIS IS A REAL VALUE FOR THESE ANCIENT PIECES. THESE ARE FROM A COLLECTOR WHO COLLECTED ART OF THE AMERICAS AS WELL AS AFRICA. Auction is for blades on red background. Not last reference image. 3 x Miniature Paleolithic Arrowheads, 70,000-30,000BC (N047)
Paleolithic Arrowheads Material: Flint Colour: Various Type: Nosed Point. Tanged/ End Scraper Age: 70.000-30,000BC Area: Sahara The'Aterian industry' was a stone tool tradition of the Middle and Late Paleolithic period. Derived from the Mousterian culture in the region around the Atlas Mountains and the northern Sahara. It refers the site of Bir el Ater, south of Annaba. The Aterian people were among the first to use the bow and arrow. Aterian stone tools are an advanced African form of the European Levalloisian tradition, adapted to desert use. A distinctive Aterian sign is the formation of stems, or tangs, on tools to facilitate hafting; this was done on spearheads, arrowheads, and scrapers. Bifacial spearheads were produced with a very fine pressure chipping technique, equivalent in difficulty to those used in later tool traditions ... moresuch as the Mousterian. Leaf-shaped blades made by the Aterians have been likened to Solutrean blades; it has often been suggested that the Aterians may have entered the Iberian Peninsula during Solutrean times. These tanged/ stemmed arrowheads represent a milestone in early human cognitive thinking as well as Paleolithic history. The man-made protrusion seen in ATERIAN tools is the first evidence of a tang on a projectile point. Proof that the points were hafted on shafts and eventually developed into arrowheads. I will include with these Paleolithic arrowheads an A4 information sheet giving some background information about the culture and containing a colour photograph of the items you have purchased. I will also include a basic'type guide' see pictures to know what to expect. I have personally handled over 35.000 of arrowheads or'flints' during my collecting over the last 20 years. All of my items are authentic, I do not sell fakes or reproductions, this is as important to me as it is to you. If any of my sales are ever proven to be anything other than stated and genuine I will refund in full. Please look at my other items or visit my shop. PAYMENT(or not
