ANCIENT CHINESE GANSU YANGSHAO NEOLITHIC PERIOD WINE EWER RARE FORM
From an old collection comes this ancient Chinese(pre-dynastic Gansu Yangshao Period- 4th to 2nd millennium BC) red earthenware wine ewer or server with painted black decoration. Note the applied loop handle at its neck and the small lug handle on its lower side to facilitate pouring. It stands just 10.5 inches tall and is almost 9 inches in diameter. This excavated jar or wine server has field repairs at its neck where its top was reattached. The loop handle has been reconstructed from 3 pieces, and there is a filled in chip at its top rim. Note the overall wear, especially to its base- I have no doubt that this is an authentic piece. The photos are a significant part of the description. I am selling pieces from an old collection of ancient Chinese pottery. But I am definitely not an expert in ancient Chinese pottery.
