Retouch: a gorgeous Levallois point with fine accommodation retouch at the left edge and significant retouch at the right one. The tip even has a retouch on the interior side. Industry: Middle Palaeolithic: Mousterian/ Mousterian in Acheulian Tradition(MAT) Dating: the particular site: ca. 55.000- 40.000 B.C. Description: Size: length 6.1 cm, weight 22 grams, Shape. Retouch: a terrific Levallois point with typical medial ridge(guided removal of the point) and negative triangle on the proximal part of the exterior side. Still partly covered with matrix from the original site layer. It has an accommodation retouch, typically found on Levallois points: the left lateral edge has some fine nibbling, the right lateral edge has a very fine retouch at the distal part, and a more significant one at the proximal part, Raw-material: marbled gray- brown patinated flint, Preservation: ... morevery well. One tiny, flat, barely visible abrasion at the right side of the distal end. Origin. Site: Le Moustier. The most famous Mousterian site in France.
