The Artifact Dealer told me this group was found by tribesmen in Africa, Libya-Morocco border area. Lower Paleolithic, ca. 750,000-250,000 B.P. late Homo erectus. Material is a brown toned Quartzite. Ve ry Handsome. With a patina and also a Complete Specimen. Perfect condition, no breaks, very ancient. Probably wind polished and then a desert varnish covers it. A very decorative specimen. This is a spectacular. Perfectly balanced Lanceolate-Type Copena in Dover Chert. Beautiful material and flaking with straight. Nicely ground basal edge. This is as nice a Copena as you'll ever find anymore under $150, as any better ones are being kept in collections. feel me? I know. Superb Early Acheulian Lanceolate Biface/Handaxe. Found Nr Swanscombe Kent a735 For sale; from the top drawer of my personal fieldwalking collection. Is this superb early Acheulian lanceolate biface/handaxe. This finely made biface has been made on a flint core using a hard hammer technique. The axe is of an elongated triangular plan with a thick. Slightly angled rounded butt. The sides of the axe are straight with an elongated distal point. This tool is in superb condition. It has a nice antique bronze colour patination. Far better in the hand than the photos. Made by Homo heidelbergensis. Dating approx 350.000-200,000 years. Found Norththfleet. Near Swanscombe, Kent. Length cm: 13.5 Width cm: 6 Thickness cm: 4 Weight grams: 343 The Acheulian period in Britain dates from c.350.000 to c.200,000 years ago, finds in Britain from this period ... moreare rare as subsequent glaciations have swept away most of the remains. There are a few important sites in Britain. One of those being Swanscombe in Kent, this tool was found around a mile from the famous Swanscombe site. This tool was made by Homo heidelbergensis. Homo heidelbergensis is an extinct species of the genus homo which lived in Africa. Europe and western Asia from at least 600,000 years ago, and may date back 1,300,000 years. First discovered near Heidelburg in Germany in 1907, it was described and named by Otto Schoetensack. It survived until about 250,000 to 200,000 years ago. Neanderthals Denisovans and modern humans are all descended from Homo heidelbergensis.
