This particular style was produced using a black glaze, high in iron oxides. In the kiln the iron would oftentimes come to the surface of the glaze, creating brown/rust-colored“oil spots” or streaky“hare’s fur” patterns on the otherwise black glaze. The style became extremely popular in ancient China, especially with Japanese Monks to whom the Chinese exported this unique and rare product. Tea bowls were the most common produce of this technique. This particular bowl is a variation of this style, where rather than a large number of spots or drips, instead larger areas of high iron glaze were used to produce these large rust-colored streaks in the otherwise black-predominated glaze. Both the tea bowls, as well as larger sized bowls such as this are relatively rare. Both styles of tea bowls as well(oil spot” and“hare’s fur” are a very sought after variation of Song

WOW!! fantastic homo erectus Clactonien notched scraper 300-200 000BC
The term"old stone age" was introduced by the english prehistorian John Lubbock. Who was ennobled in 1900 and after that called Lord Avebury. The old stone age ist the oldest and longest period of the stone age. It began when people first tried to use stone as raw material to produce tools and weapons. This period ended in europe at the same time with the ice age about 10.000 years ago. Cultures of the old stone age lived in every part of the world. In addition to hand axes and cleavers. The Acheulean industry included choppers and flakes. The latter were produced from a prepared core and could be used as knives without further change or could be chipped to make side-scrapers, burins, and other implements. Though bone and wood were probably also used as tools. Homo erectus Skull cast
This is the professional cast skull replica made of resin and colored. It includes also jaw. Homo erectus(or Homo ergaster) Discovered by Kamoya Kimeu in 1984 at Nariokotome near Lake Turkana in Kenya. Almost complete skeleton of an 11 or 12 year old boy, the only major omissions being the hands and feet. Some scientists believe erectus matured faster than modern humans. And that he was really about 9 years old(Leakey and Lewin 1992) It is the most complete known specimen of H. erectus. And also one of the oldest, at 1.6 million years. The brain size was 880 cc, and it is estimated that it would have been 910 cc at adulthood(a modern human of comparable size would be expected to have a brain size of about 1350 cc) The boy was 160 cm(5'3" tall, and estimates are that he might have been about 185 cm(6'1" as an adult. Except ... morefor the skull, the skeleton is very similar to that of modern boys, although there are a number of small differences. The most striking is that the holes in his vertebrae, through which the spinal cord goes, have only about half the cross-sectional area found in modern humans. One suggested explanation for this is that the boy lacked the fine motor control we have in the thorax to control speech, implying that he wasn't nearly as fluent a speaker as modern humans are(Walker and Shipman 1996) Size: 18 x 13.5 cm Location: Kenya KNM- WT 15000 Description of Homo erectus from webpages of Stanford University: It is widely accepted that population similar to Homo erectus was directly ancestral to the earliest members of living species Homo sapiens. The exact timing and mode of transformation are still controversial. Homo erectus appears to have evolved in Africa about 1.8 million years ago. Migrations first to Asia and then to Europe. the species became extinct sometimes less than.5 million years ago. This timing places Homo erectus between Homo habilis and the earliest appearance of Homo sapiens. The time of migration out of Africa is unknown. Most scholars agreed migration occu

The most recent scientific review suggests 8 years of age. 4] It was initially suggested that he would have grown into 1.85 m tall adult but the most recent analysis argues for the much shorter stature of 1.63 m. The reason for this shift has been research showing that his growth maturation differed from that of modern humans in that he would have had a shorter and smaller adolescent growth spurt. 4] The was discovered in 1984 by. A member of a team led by. At near in Kenya. 5] 6] Adolescence and maturity The shape of the identifies that the specimen was a male. His estimated age at death depends upon whether the maturity stage of his teeth or skeletal is used. And whether that maturity is compared to that of or. A key factor here is that while modern humans have a marked adolescent growth spurt. Chimpanzees do not. While initial research assumed a modern human type of growth, more recent evidence from other fossils suggests this was less present in early Homo. This affects the estimation of both his age and his likely stature as a fully grown adult. 4] Anthropologists and in 1993 estimated

Most paleontologists believe that the tools were actually made by more advanced Homo habilis, with whom they are most commonly associated. Some Oldowan tools have been found in association with later fossils of early Homo erectus, however these may be re-deposited tools from earlier Homo habilis population or they may represent a transition from the Oldowan tool making tradition of Homo habilis to the Ascheulian hand axes which are more typically associated with Homo erectus. While the known distribution of Oldowan tools was originally confined to East Africa, Oldowan stone tools have since been recognized outside of Africa from the Mediterranean to South China in numerous early Pleistocene sites dating from 1.8 million years. A widely held belief that the first hominids to settle in Europe were Homo erectines which were thought to have migrated to Europe from Africa about 1 million years ago. The discovery of Oldowan tools at numerous sites outside of Africa has called this belief into question.
