MASSIVE DANISH NEOLITHIC STONE AGE'THICK BUTTED' AXE Flint. 950 grams, 214 mm. Denmark, circa 3,000 BC. A very large and massive tapered Danish axe in a grey chert flint with characteristic squared sides and polishing to the main surfaces, providing an effective, slightly convex cutting edge with some evidence of re-sharpening due to use. Reference: British Museum Guide to Antiquities of the Stone Age. Very fine condition and a good example of the superb Scandinavian knapping techniques of the Danish Neolithic era.
