Excellent Buddha/Guanyin statue. Appears to copper hammered over a core of an unknown material. There also looks to be areas of brass on the surface over ... morethe copper. This would have been a labor intensive process. I do not know the age of the statue but I’d guess 40-100 years old. I have an antique Thai Buddha with a layer of silver hammered over the core. That would lead me to believe this one could be Thai since it’s a technique they use there. Condition is excellent with lots of great detail. Marked on base by the maker. There is some sticker residue on the base from the high end auction house I purchased it from, it will come off easily. Shipping is ASAP! Approximately 7.25” tall.

gorgeous neanderthal pointed flint core hammer stone Mousterian ca. 50 000BC
The Neandertal was named after theologian Joachim Neander. Who lived nearby in Düsseldorf in the late 17th century. Neander" is a classicized form of the common German surname Neumann. In turn, Neanderthals were named after"Neander Valley" where the first Neanderthal remains were found. The term Neanderthal Man was coined in 1863 by Anglo-Irish geologist William King. From the period called"Mousterian" 150 000- 40 000 b.c. tools made of stone. Settlement sites and some parts of human skulls were found. Evidence for hunters and collectors in this period was found in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and other parts of Germany. Neanderthals are thought to have used tools of the Mousterian class. Which were often produced using soft hammer percussion, with hammers made of materials like bones, antlers, and wood, rather ... morethan hard hammer percussion, using stone hammers. A result of this is that their bone industry was relatively simple. However, there is good evidence that they routinely constructed a variety of stone implements. Neanderthal(Mousterian) tools most often consisted of sophisticated stone-flakes, task-specific hand axes, and spears. Many of these tools were very sharp. There is also good evidence that they used a lot of wood, objects which are unlikely to have been preserved until today. The larger core measures 64 mms. After younger Dryas the climate became warmer. Soon the reindeer disappeared. The people of the wood now aimed at against game such as moose. Aurochs, bear, roe deer and red deer. Arrowheads and the so-called microliths. Was made from small flakes. To handle the wood, of which there was a plenty of in the new forests, the Maglemose Culture invented axes made of flint. The Maglemose Culture, which was named after settlements in the Maglemose bog at Mullerup in Western zealand, developed in the continental phase(pre-boreal and boreal) when present Denmark was part of the European continent and connected with ... moreEngland. Outside Southern Scandinavia Maglemose settlements are found in the North-Western European flatland from Poland, Northern Germany to England. Boats(presumably dugouts) played an important role in transport and in fishing. Which had great importance for the hunters` economy. From the inland settlements heavy fishing hooks and leisters indicates intensive fishing after for instance wels and pike. The most of settlements were situated on peninsulas and islands in the great lakes of that time. Changes in flaking technique and types of microlithis forms the basis of the division of the Maglemose Cultures in six phases: The earlier part(phase 0. 1, 2) is characterized by lancet-shaped microliths and rather irregular flakes. The younger Maglemose Culture(phase 3, 4, 5) is characterized by slim triangle-shaped microliths and regular flakes made from pressure-technique. Cores are blocks of flint which flakes have repeatedly been struck. In the more highly developed flaking technique the core is more frequently conical or cylindrical. Though sometimes oblong, with striking platforms at one end(Handled Cores) Often the cores are carefully shaped before flaking begins. Good cores

40.000Y.O: SUPERB CORE HAMMER NEANDERTHAL STONE AGE LATE PALEOLITHIC MOUSTERIAN
EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description of the Homo Neanderthalensis- the Neanderthal( Neandertal) men from the Mousterian phase about 40.000- 60.000 years ago. Typical crushing marks showing that it has been used as a crusher/hammer! The length of this stunning stone tool is 68 mms! The Mousterian industry appeared around 200.000 years ago and persisted until about 40,000 years ago, in much the same areas of Europe, the Near East and Africa where Acheulean tools appear. In Europe these tools are most closely associated with Homo neanderthalensis, but elsewhere were made by both Neanderthals and early Homo sapiens. Mousterian tools required a preliminary shaping of the stone core from which the actual blade is struck off. The toolmakers either shaped a rock into a rounded surface before striking off the ... moreraised area as a wedge shaped flake(see photo at left) or they shaped the core as a long prism of stone before striking off triangular flakes from its length, like slices from a baguette. Because Mousterian tools were conceived as refinements on a few distinct core shapes, the whole process of making tools had standardized into explicit stages(basic core stone, rough blank, refined final tool) Variations in tool shapes could be produced by changes in the procedures at any stage. A consistent manufacturing goal was to increase as much as possible the cutting area on each blade. Though this made the toolmaking process more labor intensive, it also meant the edges of the tools could be reshaped or sharpened as they dulled, so that each tool lasted longer. The whole toolmaking industry had adapted to get the maximum utility from the labor invested at each step. Tool forms in the Mousterian industry display a wide range of specialized shapes. Cutting tools include notched flakes, denticulate(serrated) flakes, and flake blades similar to Upper Paleolithic tools. Points appear that seem designed for use in spears or lances, some including a tang or stub at the base that allo
