This tool has been made from a thick flint flake. It is wedged shape in side profile and is parially bifaced with a flat base. There is a cortical area for the whole palm. There are small notches for the fingers and has been made for left handed use, it is very ergonomic. This cleaver is in superb condition with great patination. The working edge is quite sharp and could easily do the job it was made to do. butchery) It would make a great addition to any collection. This tool has been made on a very large marbled flint flake. It is roughly oval in plan. It has a flat well worked base. One end has a well defined tranchet edge to be used as a decent cleaver, the other end has a heavy point. There is approx 30% cortex remaining where the chopper is grasped. This tool displays good clear working detail.It is in very good condition with nice patination. It would make a great addition to any collection. Acheulian. Unusual Typology, Cleaver& Point, Found Nr Swanscombe Kent a738 For sale; from the top drawer of my personal fieldwalking collection. Is this very unusual Acheulian cleaver and point. This tool has been made on a thick flint flake and has been bifacially worked. It has been skilfully worked to produce a dual purpose chopping tool. The tool has been made with a significant curve. It has a point at one end and a wide(8cm) cleaver head feature at the other. The cleaver edge has scars through usage. The tool is very ergonomic in the right hand. This tool is in superb condition. It has nice detailed working with wonderful patination. Far better in the hand than the photos. Made by Homo heidelbergensis. Dating approx 350.000-200,000 years. Found Norththfleet. Near Swanscombe, Kent.
