Antique Art Deco Cavalier Waterfall Vanity Dressing Table with Mirror -Needs TLC
Antique vanity/dressing table. Child's size? Measures approx. 5' tall(to the top of the mirror. 4'3" wide, 18" deep. In need of some love and a refinishing. The finish appears to have already been removed some years ago or it is just that worn. I don't know for sure though. Peeling and chipped veneer in many places. Is missing the little brackets that hold the mirror to the wood backing. Also missing a piece of glass for the top center(between the drawers) Both of those items are easily replaced. Someone wrote their name on the mirror, but it does seem to come off easily when scraped, so it is not etched in there. The mirror alone on this piece is worth $40.00. This is extra special because it is solid blocked wood! Maple or Birch. There is no veneer- and this waterfall style deco stuff is almost always veneered. And as a second plus it is a Beautiful blond wood tone instead of the usual darker wood. Some scuffs and scratches to the sides and handles and some slight inconsistencies to the top- but no bad stains or discoloration. This is a vintage un-restored piece that displays nicely as it is- but is not perfect. Measures 46 inches long x 20 deep(plus a little for the handles) x28.5 tall at the higher part and 25.5 high in the center. Here is an absolutely gorgeous vintage. Circa 1930's to 1940's, art deco waterfall bedroom group, made in America and a terrific example of beautifully designed well constructed bedroom group with matched mahogany veneer with contrasting trim, lovely inlay in a floral in urn design, fabulous hardware incorporating bake-o-lite into it's design, casters on all pieces and fabulous clear mirrors and decorative trim. This four part set includes the incredible chifforobe with a wonderful drop front desk build in, two cedar closets with hanging bar within, hat box r large blind cubbie at the top two large drawers below the desk and another with contrasting burl veneer across the front above the desk below the hat box. The dresser with large round mirror has three large, deep clean drawers and the matching dressing table also with a large ... moreround mirror has two drawers on either side and two small drawers in the top central area on either side of where the light had been below the frosted glass to uplight the piece. The light is not currently functional but a light could be reinstalled and wired easily if desired by the new owner. I know someone who can do this before it ships if a buyer desired for an additional fee. The full side bed headboard and foot board are also quite lovely as shown and uses double hook metal side rails to support the box spring and mattress. Together, in such a marvelous well constructed original design and wonderful condition, this vintage art deco waterfall mahogany veneer bedroom group is a real find and really to make a statement in your home. The chifforobe stands 70 inches tall and measures 40 inches wide by 20 1/2 inches front to back. It has two cedar lined closets. One on each side measuring 63 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 18 inches deep, front to back. The small top drawer below the hat box measures 16 1/4 inches wide by 13 1/4 inches front to back and 3 inches deep.
