Description: This listing is for a ... moreChippendale Period Slant Front Desk circa 1770-80. Salem Massachusetts, in the manner of John Chipman(b. 1746-1819) It features solid Cuban Mahogany case, each side crafted of a single solid plank, through-dovetailed at the top and dovetailed at the bottom. The slant front lid features an original keyhole escutcheon over what appears to be the original brass lock, falling onto arms that slide out with brass knobs- one original, the left one replaced. The open writing surface is clean, with what appear to be two original brass hinges, though curious patching is noted below flaking each hinge. Above the writing surface is a collection of nine small drawers, the centermost shell carved, each with brass knobs, below which a gallery of six pigeon holes rest in perfect symmetry. The case has four graduated drawers. Each of which feature period bail pull brass hardware flanking a replaced lock with original brass keyhole escutcheon. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the front dovetails hidden behind applied cockbead molding. The drawers are yellow pine secondaries, the bottom being deeply chamfered along the perimeter to rabbet into the frame. They slide easily in and out of the case over replaced drawer runners, the drawer dividers running into the sides behind a mahogany facade, effectively hiding what are probably dovetail joints. The back of the case has all original backboards, though many nails are replaced. The molded apron features a carved shell drop down medallion in the center that mirrors the design of the middle drawer. The case rests over scroll cut bracket feet, each with an incredible flowing design in the manner of John Chipman. We do not believe the desk was executed in the shop of John Chipman. As his cases will typically feature exposed dovetail drawer dividers in the Newport manner, and the pidgeon-hole gallery will regularly featur

In fact, it has the old Mahogany Association label on the right inside drawer, which was used by American quality furniture manufacturers starting at the turn of the 20th century until the mid century to designate genuine crafted mahogany from other woods. Vintage Mahogany Chippendale Style High Boy Circa 1900's This great vintage mahogany Chippendale style high boy or chest on chest. Has Queen Anne legs, nicely reproduced brass pulls with pierced back plates, three removable top finials, mahogany veneered drawer fronts with all solid mahogany case and inner drawers also. It is in a very deep mahogany stain with the classic top and has the brass medallion in the top drawer, Johnson Furniture Co. Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is 74 inches high, 19 inches deep, 34 inches wide and is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs and only a satin effect in the finish due to the age and changes in temperature in which I find attractive to the piece. A very fine antique. Circa 1920's, Chippendale style solid mahogany chest of drawers. The case is on four claw and webbed feet on bun. The case front corners are column fluted. The drawers are solid mahogany fronts, sides, and backs, the bottoms of maple(there is sticky contact paper that needs removing from the drawers. All original brass pulls with patina. The chest is in the original rich red finish, the top boards are with very fine tiny scratches, no ring spots. The side boards are also solid mahogany. Scratch to one drawer front needs Old English. Chest measures 36-1/2" tall by 39" wide by 19-1/2" deep.

The piece stands 86" tall to the top of the center finial. 39 1/2" wide, and 20 1/2" deep. The piece has a fantastic bonnet top with flame inspired finials along with fan or shell carved drawers, cabrio legs, all four ball in claw feet, and a scallop carved apron. We are unsure of the manufacturer as there are no markings however the top chest slides neatly into the bottom chest and has a combined total of 12 drawers. Vintage 1940's Chippendale Style Mahogany Painted Black Mirror
Beautiful vintage mahogany mirror. It's from the 1940's to the best of my knowledge. I acquired this mirror at an antique store 20 years ago. It measures 34" tall at its highest point and 22" wide. It's in excellent vintage condition. The mirror is a flat mirror. Not beveled. It has a strong wire for easy hanging. I personally painted it a glossy black, giving it an updated look. It could be stripped back to its mahogany if you choose. Available for local pick up, but if you want to arrange shipping on your own, I will consider. Thank you for looking.
