This lovely vintage Art Deco Japanese kyodai. Or mirror stand& vanity dating from the early Showa period between1930 and the early 50's boasts an adjustable 3 way mirror that creates multiple reflections, made in a beautiful extra thick quality glass with beveled borders that still has a very clear reflection for its age. The center below the mirror is adorned with a textured glass surface reflecting a pale blue colour. Its Art deco lines, adorned with a lovely stripy grain veneer in a golden shade are accented by silver tone openwork handles. Small drawers offer space for accessories or make-up and it can easily fit on a night stand, chest or work top making it an very useable and versatile piece. It is in excellent overall condition for its age with no major damage. This is a one of a kind. Antique Millinery Table from the Emery, Bird, Thayer& Co. Department store in downtown Kansas City. This store was the prime attraction on Kansas City's main retail thoroughfare from the 1890's to the 1960's, popularly known as"Petticoat Lane. This piece of furniture is truly unique. It is a double-sided vanity-style table with mirrors on both sides, as well as a drawer on each side. This style of table was used for women to sit at as they tried on hats in the department store. The embellishments on the table are very Art Deco, so it probably was used in the early part of the 20th Century. It is in excellent condition, with very minor wear. There is one of the 4 legs' brass wrapped feet that is missing, but other than that, it is in excellent condition. Antique 1920's French Art Deco Vanity Dressing Table with Mirror
This is an antique French Art Deco vanity from the 1920's. It is made of finely crafted Walnut with dovetail and tongue& groove construction. The adjustable swiveling mirror is supported by two fluted columns and flanked by two curvaceous cabinets. There is a shelf directly beneath the mirror. On the left is a bank of three drawers. On the right a single door cabinet with a floral design subtly carved into one corner. The right side is topped with an unusual marble specimen with a mottled"Plum Pudding" veining pattern. The marble is custom cut to follow the curving contour of the cabinet top. The hardware is classic art deco- Two-tone stepped knobs on the drawers and adjusters for the mirror and a wild swirled handle on the door. Antique vanity/dressing table. Child's size? Measures approx. 5' tall(to the top of the mirror. 4'3" wide, 18" deep. In need of some love and a refinishing. The finish appears to have already been removed some years ago or it is just that worn. I don't know for sure though. Peeling and chipped veneer in many places. Is missing the little brackets that hold the mirror to the wood backing. Also missing a piece of glass for the top center(between the drawers) Both of those items are easily replaced. Someone wrote their name on the mirror, but it does seem to come off easily when scraped, so it is not etched in there. The mirror alone on this piece is worth $40.00.
