A beautiful. Rare and well provenanced Neolithic arrowhead, dating to approximately 3000- 2000 BC and found in Scandinavia. This cream coloured flint arrowhead has a beautiful linear form. Despite its use as a functional weapon, one can appreciate the artistic merit of this wonderful piece. Made from a large piece of flint, which was broken down and then worked into shape using the advanced pressure flaking technique. This technique made use of a sharp implement, likely made from bone, or antler. The simple beauty of this object belies its true role as vicious weapon. Produced to be used in a highly turbulent period. Though such arrowheads were often used for the hunting of animals, many thousands have been recovered from apparent battle/siege contexts in Neolithic settlements. LBK) Bandkeramik, Linear Band Pottery culture, Linear(Band) Ware culture, Linear Ceramics culture, Danubian I culture of V. Gordon Childe, Early Danubian culture or Incised Ware Group is a major archaeological horizon of the European Neolithic(stone age) flourishing ca. 5500—4500 BC. The heaviest concentrations are on the middle Danube, the upper and middle Elbe, and the upper and middle Rhine. The LBK represents the advent of agriculture into this part of the world. The LBK at maximum extent ranged from about the line of the Seine—Oise(Paris Basin) eastward ... moreto the line of the Vistula and upper Dniester, and southward to the line of the upper Danube down to the big bend.
