c1900 ANSONIA Mantel Clock ROYAL BONN "La Lorne"
Offered for your consideration is this lovely Ansonia Clock Company china case mantel clock. The fancy Royal Bonn case is the"La Lorne" design. The colorful floral motif is accented with light blue. The case is 11 1/2" high and 12" across at the base. It is in very good estate condition with no damage or repairs found. There is some minor wear on gold detail but remarkably no crazing of the glossy glaze. The clock is all original and runs for a short time but quits. The porcelain dial has a significant crack and the glass is missing-see enlarged photo to evaluate. The hanger where the back cover latches is missing. This Ansonia Royal Bonn clock should be a fine choice for any collection and is offered without reserve. ROYAL BONN OLD DUTCH VASE - SUPER PIECE OF ART NOUVEAU - JUGENDSTIL DESIGN !!
This is a super piece of Royal Bonn ceramic(porcelain? Old Dutch line. It is also a great example of art nouveau, or considering where this was made, jugendstil design. The fantasy floral motif, with the undulating tendrils, and the tiny detail work of spots and circles is reminiscent of the work of Mucha in his finest prints and posters. This great piece is 5 ¼” high, and 4 ½” across, a very manageable size for any shelf, or table top. It is marked, as shown, on the bottom. It has glaze crazing throughout, and there are numerous dust bumps in the glaze. There is some discoloration(staining? under glaze) on the interior of the mouth and neck of the piece, as seen in the one pic. There are no chips or cracks on this fine piece. Superb Large Covered Cheese Dish Royal Bonn Franz Anton Mehlem
This auction is for a Beautiful and Large Covered Cheese Dish made by Royal Bonn of Germany and marked with the Franz Anton Mehlem impression. It is beautifully decorated in a floral design. Hand colored in spots. It also has a Great Ribbed design with a handle made to look like a Vine and Leaf. The dish dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. For that age. It is in very good condition, without any chips or crack or repairs to the plate or the dome. The floral design is bright and clear. There is age-appropriate loss of the gold accent lines. It has crazing as is expected of ceramics and porcelain of this vintage. It only adds to the character of the piece. It has hand written numbers on the underside of the lid. The lid and the plate have an ink registration diamond and the plate has an impressed mark of Franz Anton Mehlem of Germany. The ... morepiece is one of the largest cheese dishes I have come across. Royal Bonn is the nineteenth-and twentieth-century trade name used by Franz Anton Mehlem. Who had a pottery in Bonn, Germany, from 1836 to 1931. Porcelain and earthenware were made. Royal Bonn used a monogram-and-tower mark that appeared on exported pottery only with Germany added. The factory was purchased by Villeroy& Boch in 1921 and closed in 1931. 1890-1900 German Porcelain Mantel Clock - Royal Bonn Case - Ansonia Clock Compan
For sale is a stunning porcelain German mantel clock that dates to 1890- 1900- case made by Royal Bonn for the Ansonia Clock Company. It is 11" tall at highest point. 4" deep and 7 1/2" wide. This clock belonged to my mother so I know little about it- I had it appraised on-line and that appraisal is noted below in full. There is a crack in the face which the appraiser was aware of and also a very small chip on the rear foot of the clock. There was a pendulum inside which I have included a picture of- I am not sure if it belongs with this clock or not. The landscape is handpainted- made by the Art Pottery company Poppelsfdorf or F.A. I love the little handpainted landscape with the watermill and the rushing millrace. The perfect visual metaphor for the unstoppable flow of time. It's also a refreshing change from the usual floral decoration one sees on these. It was made by a celebrated German art pottery company called Poppelsdorf or F.A Mehlem in honor of the father(Franz Anton Mehlem and hence those initials F.A.M in the monogram under the crown) of the two founding brothers Paul& Everard Mehlem. The factory was located at Poppelsdorf/Bonn in Westphalia near the famous clay pits of the Saar Valley. The Mehlem brothers production began in 1840 out of the bones of a much older factory that had existed from the eighteenth century and that was sponsored by the local nobility. Hello bidders! Here we are offering a circa 1904 Ansonia"La Cruz" Porcelain Clock with a"Royal Bonn" case. The clock is an eight day- half hour gong strike was cleaned and oiled about a year ago. The catalog describes it as"Decorated in New Art Tints. Green, Apple Green, Etc. This clock can be referenced in"Ansonia Clocks& Watches, Tran Duy Ly, Page 632, Item# 2685. Tran Duy Ly has not updated price guides on Ansonia since 1999- but it was valued at $500.00 then! It is absolutely georgeous as the pictures will show- the only thing to mention is that at one time in its 109 yrs someone must have dropped it and broke off the left rear foot. They had it repaired and recovered in porcelain, but it can still be detected at a very close inspection of the rear of the clock where noone should see it anyway, but I ... moremention for accuracy. The porcelain dial has a tiny hairline from the numeral 4 to the center brass insert as well as by the eight- can't really be seen, but again I mention for accuracy. It is a wonderful clock and I am only offering this clock once before I pack it up and take it with me when I move. It is beauty not often found by craftsmen these days anymore. I will let my pictures complete the description. Size- approximately 11.5" high x 8" across(at widest part) on front x 5" deep(back to front includes the glass) Condition- 8 day- half gong strike which was cleaned& oiled about 1 year ago. Porcelain dial has hairline. I am sure there is some normal wear on the glass. Porcelain, which could be seen under extremely close examination. The ROYAL BONN CO. was established in Bonn. Germany in the mid-1800's. Most pieces found today are generally late 1800"s through pre- WWI. The Company is most noted for soft paste porcelain highly, colorfully hand painted items. Listed here is a vase which stands 14" high and is approximately 6" in diameter at the widest point. The vase was painted in the factory and the artist was quite a professional! The vase was produced signed c. 1917. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The hand painting and gilding are also in excellent condition. It does have some crazing but that it typical of soft paste porcelain over age, and some wear showing on the soft gold handles. This is a group of three amazing plates by Royal Bonn. They date to c. 1880. One is marked with a crown; one is marked with an“R” in script; and one has no mark. But matches exactly the other two plates. These are all in a satin finish with raised heavy gold tracery around the flowers and on the birds. They measure 8 ¼ inches in diameter. Upon careful examination we found short hairlines in two of the plates but they all ring like bells. One of them has a very shallow flake from when it was made. There is some original gold paint in the flaw. The birds depicted on the plates are all different, as are the foliage and flowers. These are magnificent! Please see the pictures. This is a truly stunning piece with an Arabic design that looks very similar to a carpet or tapestry. The piece has a gilded rim with gilt decorations as well. The bottom is marked to the base with the Bonn mark as well as various finishers marks. The vase is in fine condition with no chips. Cracks or breaks. Measures 8" tall. This vase shows the mark of Franz Anton Mehlem made in Bonn. Germany. A number of marks were used by this manufacturer, most including the initials FM, a crown, and the word Bonn. Some of his pottery, including this one, show a date of"1755, which refers to earlier Bonn pottery manufacturers, rather than the date a piece was made. This vase also has the numbers 2823 and letters CD etched into the bottom for identification purposes. It is 11 inches tall by approximately 4 1/2 inches wide at the widest part. 18" Covered Royal Bonn Portrait Vase w/ Bronze Collar c 1875 Landscape& Dancers Colorful decoration of a young couple dancing and this surrounds the vase. This vase has a bronze collar with a floral pattern in it. The colors are bright. The only damage is a surface chip on the edge of the lid about 1/4" square as shown in photo#11. No cracks or hairlines. The marks on the bottom include an underglaze incised 2 and 259 and the circular mark Franz Ant. Mehlem Bonn Reine as shown in photo#10. The only flaw is a fleabite chip on the edge of the plate, that cannot be seen from the front of the plate. There is very light natural aging on the front of the plate. On the backside of the plate in the center it is browned some. There are some blemish marks from the manufacture of the plate. The Hallmark reads as such: Royal Bonn. Rosenguirlarde, Germany. Inside crown of hallmark is the initials F M 1755. The plate is also imprinted with town name in Germany and DO. Wonderful addition to a collection.

Antique c1890 Royal Bonn. Germany porcelain cheese/butter dish from Franz Anton Mehle m in wonderful condition. Two piece dish with lid. Lovely rose floral garland pattern with stamped gold fruit and gold trim. The only crazing that I see is one line on the lid near the handle and a few lines on the bottom of the base(underside only) The gold trim is in Near Mint condition. Wonderful. Super clean piece, especially for its age. The base measures approx. 9" in diameter. The dome measures approx. 7-1/4" in diameter x 6"H including the handle. Manufactured in Germany by Franz Mehlem, has been consigned to us from a local estate. It is in very good condition. I see no chips or cracks. It was not until I was photographing that I noticed a pencil point size flake in the paint only, as shown in picture#13. This is a rare find. It features a handpainted floral design with applied giltz and measures approximately 9" tall. Signed by artist M. Dickmann. The bottom is stamped with the Franz Anton Mehlem factory mark which was used from 1888 to c. 1920. There are also impressed and handpainted numbers. I am not an antique dealer. I am not well informed about the old vase, I will show all marks, to help you identify the piece. There are no chips, or cracks, no dings, there is some light crazing, but you(I) have to hold the vase up close to see it. The bottom is marked"Royal Bonn Germany" with what looks to me to be the initials FM or TM and the numbers 1731. There are other marks inscribed on the bottom, it looks like before the vase was fired. The floral design looks hand painted to me. One side has gold leaf around the edges of the design. The piece stands 14 1/2" tall, and is 7" wide at the widest point. I have no idea of the value. I guarantee item to be as described or your money back, including postage both ways.

Royal Bonn Franz Ant Mehlem scenic 15" by 9" raised edge tray boat on water 1900
I have for auction this evening a nice example of royal Bonn Franz Mehlem pottery from around the turn of the century. This piece features a heavy pottery body with an all over earth tone glaze that has been decorated with a well executed transfer print of a man in a boat possibly fishing in a cove. The scene is quite lovely and the colors are quite nice. The piece may be hand touched but its hard to tell. The transfer is well rendered and attractive in its application upon the face of the tray. This is a pretty and very nice example of its type by this company and has some age associated wear but will make a great display piece for any collector of pieces by the maker Royal Bonn. Dimensions and dating: All measurments are approximate. This piece measures 15" long and nearly 9" wide and stands around 2" tall. This piece dates ... morefrom around the turn of the twentieth century by the mark and design. Condition report: The only issue to mention is a chip on the foot rim that can be seen in one of my attached pictures. There are no other chips. Cracks or crazing that I can see. There are some minor scratches and wear to the face and scalloped edges but these are fairly minor and do not have a significant impact on the show value of this piece. ATQ 1890 Royal Bonn GERMANY Flow BLUE 9” Porcelain Plate FRANZ Anton MEHLEM Gold
Offered for your consideration is an antique Royal Bonn earthenware flow blue plate. Gorgeous strong blue color on a white background. Gold accents are scattered all along the antique plate’s shell-shaped scalloped edge. Royal Bonn is the trade name and collector’s name for earthenware made by the Franz Anton Mehlem Earthenware Factory in Bonn. Germany in 1836. The name Royal was added in 1890 and the company eventually sold to Villeroy& Boch in 1920. Which closed in 1931. Royal Bonn wares are generally well marked. Including a stamped cartouche under a crown enclosing the AFM initals in script. 1755. And an impressed circle enclosing the initals. The date 1755 refers to an earlier Bonn pottery manufacturer rather than the date the piece was made. This old flow blue plate is marked on the bottom with the blue underglaze mark ROYAL FM(initials) ... more1755 BONN TWISS(pattern) GERMANY PAYMENT. A crown and cartouche. GERMANY appeared only on exported pottery. The blue stamped words ROYAL above the crown. 1755 FM inside the crest and BONN TWISS GERMANY below the crest are hard to make out. It looks like the stamping was done twice. There is also impressed FRANTZ A. MEHLEM as well as some numbers and letters in an incised circle. Trivet marks from firing in the kiln are on the bottom of the plate as well as a glaze pop hole along the edge. These are acceptable and expected conditions for an antique piece of china that was made prior to 1900 and are not considered damage. A minor nick on the edge. Crazing and a small chip on the back don’t detract at all from the charm of this early flow blue plate. Measures 9 inches in diameter x 1¼ inch tall. I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking! Royal Bonn 12" vase early mark Bird Butterfly Insects Vines raised enamels EXC
I have up for auction this evening a stunning vase by Royal Bonn made in the early years and painted by a master artist. This vase has it all from leafy vines top to bottom and covering most of the central body accept the areas were the bird and butterfly are in flight along with the mosquito like winged insects. The entire design is painted in vivid colors of pinks and blues and greys with earth tones and gold. All the design is outlined in slip gold and beaded gold and the thickly applied enamel paints give the entire piece almost a 3D type affect and make for a visual and textural feast for the eyes to see and the hands to touch. Gold dust is scatered throughout and on the rim and base as well. You have to check out my pictures to get the full impact of this stellar piece. Check out the butterfly. Bird and the other two insects because ... morethey put this piece over the top. This is a very fine example by a premier porcelain manufacturer and by a master painter and decorator. Just stunning and would make a fantastic addition to any collection and a great gift for this holiday season as well. Dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. This piece stands at 12" tall with a base diameter of 3" and a rim diameter of 1.5" and the widest part is around 5" across. This piece bares the incised mark in use from 1870 to 1920 but by the design elements I would put this around 1880 or so and possibly a little earlier. Condition report: This piece is in antique excellent condition with only one issue to note. There are two hairline cracks around an inch long at the neck. One on the inside with a shadow showing on the exterior and one on the exterior with a shadow on the interior. The one on the outside has darkened with age and can be seen if close up but does not detract in my eyes from the overall beauty of this incredible piece but the low start price is reflective of the cracks and some fine line crazing taht is present throughout but normal for these pieces. Great looking rose decorated vase for your dining pleasure no chips.Dings,cracks or hidden repairs and remains nice and rainbow bright the only two minor defects are in the third photo 3 pinpoint spots of paint loss and on the bottom ring which you can't see is a fine gold paint band and it has about a 20% loss to the banding neither are major or earth shattering. It stands 7 7/8" tall and 4 1/4" wide across the widest section and marked on the bottom and still retains it's paper import label. Top is accented in speckled gold into dark blue then pale pink with the roses and ends in a dark green and it looks marvinless sitting on a shelf as decor.
