Simple but beautiful. This is an antique C-1910 Mission Arts& Crafts oak hall tree in great condition. I did lightly sand. Touch the spots with stain and put a coat of vanish on to freshen up the finish. The seat was cracked so that was glued, lightly sanded, and stained with a coat of varnish. The hardware is original, the mirror is original but with spotting and slightly foggy but it gives it a old look. The boards on the sides have gaps(look at the pictures) Sooo this is pretty original. Description: This is a beautiful map of Mexico and Guatemala from Sidney Hall's extremely scarce 1835 New General Atlas. It covers from Upper California and New Albion south to Guatemala. Including the modern day regions of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Texas, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Mexico. Hall's map offers an interesting pre-Republic mapping of Texas folded into the Intendancy of San Louis Potosi. Further west this map really gets interesting with the mappings of Escalante and Humboldt very much in evidence. Hall curiously charts two lakes in the Great Basin, one labeled Timpanagos and another smaller lake further south labeled Teguayo or'Salt Water' ... moreThe Great Salt Lake is said to have first been seen by Europeans in 1824, only a few years before this map was first published in 1827, so it is unlikely that Hall drew from this exploration. Instead, Hall is following Escalante's discoveries as recorded on the Miera map. The Escalante expedition actually visited Utah Lake(identified here as Teguayo) but only heard about the Great Salt Lake from local Native American Ute tribe. Miera, Escalante's cartographer, thus mapped Timpanagos as much larger than the unseen'Great Salt Lake' Hall also maps the apocryphal Buenaventura River running from the Rocky Mountains westward through'Salt Lake' and westward to San Francisco Bay. The Buenaventura is the last incarnation of the apocryphal River of the West, a long sought after speculative alternative to the Northwest Passage. The mapping of Buenaventura here again references legitimate discoveries by Escalante of the White River and the Sevier River. This 39 page softcover book measures approx 12" x 8" It was published by Lancastrian Theatre Organ Trust. This magnificent Wurlitzer Organ(Queen of Manchester) was originally installed in Paramount/Odeon. Oxford Street Manchester in 1930. When the Odeon was earmarked for conversion to a multi-cinema enthusiasts realised that the organ could be lost to the city. Hence the Lancastrian Theatre Organ Trust was formed with a view to purchase and re-installation in Manchester. The Free Trade Hall organ of that time was considered to be inadequate and it was eventaully agreed that this would be replaced with the Wurlitzer. On the back of the pieces is what appears to be plastic that has melted onto the surface. Because of the condition of these pieces. England- The Potteries. Famous for Minton ware, his factory gained a reputation for it's art porcelains in the Victorian period; he also popularised the famous Willow Pattern. Tammany Hall Boss Tweed Mechanical Bank Cast Iron Vintage Cannot verify if this is an original or reproduction but it is definitely cast iron. Boss Tweed is in a flat black suite with a yellow vest. White shirt and black bow tie sitting in a chair with reticulated sides that say Tammany Bank. All parts that are supposed to move do. It measures 5 1/4" by 3 1/2" at it's base and stands about 5 1/4" tall. Other than a bit of minor warping. Mainly on the bases edges, there are no other chips, cracks or other problems to note on this very collectible plastic bank. There is a twist on cap on the bottom that at one time was operated with a key(not included) it is warped somewhat, allowing it to close with only two of the extensions instead of all four. There is a coin slot on top ... morebehind the clock tower. The only mark that we find on it is on the bottom ~ Dr. Paul E. Allen- Skokie, Illinois. Written in raised letters on the front edge of it's cream colored base is"Birthplace of Independence" on the backside is"Cradle of Liberty" As you can see in the photos. INDEPENDENCE HALL" is written in white lettering above the door on the bank. It is estimated to be at least 55-60 years old! This wonderful bank. Although not perfect, is still in excellent condition and would be a nice addition to your collection. It would also be a very interesting historical piece to display in your office or library!
