Victorian 1880s Aesthetic Brown Transferware Ironstone Stag Chamber Pot & Lid
Up for auction is a Victorian 1800s Aesthetic Brown Transferware Ironstone Stag Chamber Pot with original lid. This is an early English Brown Transferware chamber pot with the matching cover. One large round cartouche at the top of the cover contains a proud Stag deer. Another square cartouceh has the picture of a waterfalls in the country. In the background are cherry blossom flowers and other wild plants. The chamber pot features a pair of hunting dogs. As well as the cherry blossoms and a windmill in a square cartouche. Unmarked, this geometric aesthetic pattern is circa 1880s. This chamber pot and cover has a very lovely asymmetrical patterns round each side as well as over the entire cover. Markings: None but probably Staffordshire. England. Measurements: Chamber pot- 6" tall. 8 3/4" in diameter. About 10 1/2" from end ... moreof rim to end of handle. Base is 6" in diameter. Cover- 9 1/4" in diameter. Inner rim that goes inside chamber pot is 6 3/4" in diameter. Chamber pot with cover on is about 8" tall. Condition: The cover has a chip on the inside rim and the outside rim has a broken chip that has been reglued back on. Shown in pictures 10, 11 and 12. A better job of regluing should be done. No chips or damage to the chamber pot. The chamber pot has dark age grazing and manufacturing blue paint in the glaze on one side, right side in picture 6. There is old crazing in the glaze, especially on the inside of the chamber pot, shown in picture 7& 8. The inside of the chamber pot has three manufacturing unglazed pontil marks inside. This Victorian era stoneware chamber pot with cover will be a lovely display item. Very unusual with the Stag on the cover. Please check out my other auctions for other Victorian BrownTranferware that matches this design. I will be listing a beautiful Wash Bowl& Pitcher with a matching pattern in a separate auction. For your consideration is an absolutely one-of-a-kind antique chamber pot. This chamber pot came from an estate which was built in the early to mid-1800's in Geneva. IL. Because of the caliber of the home, this is not your every-day chamber pot. The family that owned this pot before me were held in very high regard and had been part of the community for over a century. Relatives of this family decided to part with a number of things and this was one of them. The antiques dealer that was hired to liquidate the estate told me that this chamber pot was hand-painted especially for the original family and that the mistress of the home loved birds. Part of the estate consisted of many antique bird cages which I did not purchase. I'm not clear on whether the original family was from Geneva or if they were from somewhere else. I absolutely ... morelove this pot because of it's beautiful artwork. I collect antiques for my old home and I have tried placing this pot in every corner of my home and can't seem to find a place for it. You could say I'm at full capacity. So I have decided to let it go. The front of this pot has a male and a female pheasant sitting on branches. The opposite side of this pot has two other birds. possibly a cockatoo and another type of bird. I'm sorry. I'm not well versed in the different types of birds. But, they are exquisite. There is a stamp on the bottom that doesn't tell me anything. There are indents where the pot was stamped. But it simply isn't legible. The condition of this chamber pot is wonderful for its age. The outside of the front of the pot(w/the handle to the right) is perfect. If you turn the pot around there are more painted birds. On a smaller scale, and that side is almost perfect. I can see an extremely light surface crack? that I will photograph for you. This imperfection does not go through to the inside. I see the same sort of cracking starting on the inside in four places. Unique Antique Chamber Thunder Piss Slop Handle Pot Glazed Pottery Lime Green
This fabulous pot belonged to my great grandmother. It was found at my grandmother's home. I don't know the true age. I don't know anything about this kind of pot so I don't know the maker. I will try and describe it to the best of what I see: The color is out-standing. It is a great lime green color. That is very unusual. It has so much character. It has bumps made in the pottery mainly seen on the inside bottom. There is crazing from it's age. There is glazing that is not perfect in some areas. You will notice it has different coloring from a green into a redish brown glazing. In some areas it has dents in the pottery but that is in the making because it has glaze over it. In some areas there are dings and little nicks from use. I have tried to describe all of the flaws. Still a great pot. It has a scallop design around ... morethe under lip on the outside of pot. There is one handle. I looked at the bottom real close and there is an area that may have a number or name but I really don't know. It is not clear at all. It has a brownish line on one side that is not a crack because it is covered with glaze. It is more on the primative style in the making. Don't expect this pot to look pristine or new. It is very old and rugged. It is very different. You will fall in love with it! The size is: Rim 8" Width: 9.5" With handle 10.5" Height: 5.25" This piece is being sold in a pre-owned condition. I have not cleaned it. I will leave that to the new owner. Please ask all questions and look at photos before bidding. Charleston W VA, durable, sanitary" You can see it is in OK condition, with a large chipped area on the side that has been patched with what looks like paint. I read elsewhere on the internet that Fletcher Porcelain moved to Charleston in 1914, so this was made after that. There is no lid. This is from the estate of my 93 year old friend. This gorgeous flow blue chamber pot is a true find! It is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks that i can find. The inside has some scratches and a minor stain in the middle; very minor. The chamber pot is 10 1/4 inches across at its widest point and 5 1/16 inches at its tallest. The daisy flowers are orange and in a matte finish and there are gold highlights throughout the design. Hello! Thank you for joining us in order to preview an exceptionally scarce and distinctive. Antiquarian miniature, making for a wonderful dollhouse accent, small for the bathroom knick-knack shelf or interesting display item for the antique science and medicine collection. Offered here is an original(circa 1920) miniature stoneware chamber pot, showing a shiny gold interior and gilded FANNY PHYSICIAN namesake across the front of the pot. I do not know the exact history behind the miniature chamber pot; having procured the keepsake this past Summer at a New England estate where the majority of items dated anywhere between 1880-1940. The miniature shows no maker's marks. A stout little pot with nice shiny glazing, measuring 1" height x 1 1/4" diameter at the rim. The Fanny Physician has a great handle as well. For your consideration is this pretty antique chamber pot. Hallmarked by Villeroy& Boch and made in their Wallerfangen factory sometime between 1874-1909. Has a mottled green background with a large white flower on both sides, fairly simple in design. The pot is in great condition with no significant damage. There is a tiny glaze chip on the rim that was impossible to photograph. Even in person. You really have to hunt to find it. All else looks good, the glaze is still quite shiny, the interior isn't stained, there is almost no crazing. Neat piece to display and use. Measures approximately 8" in diameter x 5" high. The pot and the matching lid have 12 sides. There are no chips or cracks or repairs or damage- Not Even Crazing. It's that nice. It is extremely hard to find Chamber Pots in this gre at shape especially con sidering wh a t t hey were used for. There is a small glaze bubble at the base of t he lid handle that was from the firing process(see last photo) It adds character and authenticity to the piece. The chamber pot has the Johnson Bros. This Homer Laughlin piece is in astonishing condition considering it dates back to 1890. From what I have found from searches it was made between 1890 and 1900 according to the makers mark. I cannot find any other Laughlin Slop Pails anywhere. Except for the shapes chart. The makers mark has the Eagle on the Lion and PAT APPLIED FOR.
