This a very old tankard cup or mug copper and appears to have cast iron some type of iron handle. It has Aged extremley well. Near Museum quality in our opinion and look at the shape. Slight underglaze darkening but glaze beautiful. gorgeous loop hangle with thumbrest. Lid immaculate. Hinge immaculate. Original gold lines on rails bordering collar almost completely cleaned off but an easy restoration. Magnificent the way it is. There seems to be the slightest rub of the lid on the backside shoulder edge and a nick. Perhaps but otherwise, near museum quality to me. The glaze on the top edge of the tankard looks poured on. Image 12 shows the depth of the glaze and crackling depth. Antique 6" Pottery Mug Stein ZELL 3/4 Liter Tankard Vintage Ceramic German 1900
So here's the story with this mug- It's an antique Zell. Marked on the bottom and the owner that gave it to me got it from his folks. They had made a note on the bottom(in sharpie? years ago that says"Grandpa brought from China in 1906 stole from German Embassy" I think it's fascinating! That's quite a legacy for Grandpa to leave. Eh? It's thick ceramic. The Zell mark is a little faint. So it's difficult to date but I feel pretty safe stating that it's antique since it was stolen 106 years ago. 6 inches high. It widens at the base and measures 4 1/8 inches wide in diameter The handle is sturdy. No cracks or repairs There is a small hole(drilled or from the mold) in the top of the handle It's marked 3/4 L near the lip. The base has some chips along the edge. Very old porcelain tankard/mug. I was told it was from the early 1800's. A friend of mine is an auctioneer and said he has never seen one like this. I am by far not an expert so please let the pic's be your judge. Stands 4-1/2" tall heavy with three men on the front-I think they look live muskeeters or buccaneers? Has a tree like handle has age to it there is one minute crack where the pen is pointing to but not really bad. Antique Gaudy Welsh Tankard Shaped Small Mug, Chinoiserie' Scenes
Gaudy Welsh was a cottage industry. Whenever one finds one of these original pieces that were not mass produced. It's bound to be different than all the others. On this one, an"oriental" gentleman and child are shown walking their birds. The child has a top knot, and the gentleman has a typical cone shaped hat, long beard and Oriental style costume. On the reverse, a single figure in a garden and a bird on the wing across the sky. Chinoiserie is the influence of oriental art on the western cultures. It is a French term, that signifies styles in use since the late 1600's reflecting the Chinese artistic influences. Fanciful imagery is used, of an imaginary China, with a mixture of Eastern and Western stylistic elements for both the decoration and shape. Copper lustre accents the panels on the mug, decorated in a rich deep ... moreblue. It was hand painted in the Staffordshire or Swansea district of England. The production was called a cottage industry because undecorated wares were delivered to areas, where villagers took them home and decorated them to earn wages. This is a nice example. There are chips around the base of this mug. And a darkened hairline across the base. The mug measures 2 5/8 inches tall and is 2 3/4 inches in diameter at the base. Wonderful ANTIQUE VINTAGE IRIDESCENT GLASS PITCHER TANKARD & 3 GLASSES! NICE
This is a very pretty vintage iridescent glass pitcher and glasses. The pitcher is a lovely wavy design with a bubble bottom secition. It has an applied handle with a blue/ black tint to it. The body of the pitcher has an amber iridescent glow. The three glasses are a clear glass with a rainbow iridescent look to them. They have the same wavy design but are a clear instead of amber color. All the pieces are in very good condition. No chips or cracks. There are a couple minor spots of wear in the iridescent covering. The pitcher is made of solid. Sturdy glass while the glasses are finer. Thinner glass, more fragile. The glasses will hold about 8 oz and the pitcher will hold about 48 oz. This is a very lovely iridescent glass pitcher and glasses. Antique Victorian 19th Century Irish Ceramic Tankard Mug Lovers& Cows One of three large mugs or tankards found in County Cork in the 1980s. This one has a lovers and cows in a field with sky and clouds. This mug also unusually has a repeated acanthus shape decoration inside the rim. I believe looking at other mugs and the shape of the base. Handles and decoration, although similar to, it is not Belleek which is usually marked as such. It is from the mid to late 19th century. Antique Imperial German Army Porcelain & Pewter Tankard
Antique German Imperial Army Porcelain commemorative stein. This is a classic stein which came from the estate of a WWII Colonel's collection. The stein measures 10" tall to pewter soldier finial and is 1.5 litre. The base is 4 1/2" in diameter 5 1/2" base to handle. The piece is beautifully hand painted. The bottom of the stein is incorporated with a lithophane romantic scene with a soldier and his fraulein. The lithophane has a spider vein crack which is tight but noticeable when held to the light. There has been a repair to the pewter lid at the hinge it is a clean decent solid job refer to photos. We had our Master German Goldsmith translate the tankard for us. The tankard is prior to WWI. The tankard was presented to Grenadier Schwarz of the 2nd battalion under Kaiser Wilhelm. There are the names of 62 soldiers on ... moretwo sides of the tankard. Delightful This is a super ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver CHRISTENING TANKARD or MUG that was made in North Attleboro. Massachusetts, USA in about 1906 by the illustrious firm of American silversmiths, The Webster Company. It has a superb traditional cylindrical shape and has a lovely solid loop handle. It has stunning engraved decoration forming a cartouche to the front. It measures 2 3/8" in diameter across the base. 2 3/4" in diameter at the lip, 3 3/4" from from handle to lip and stands 2 5/8" high. It is quite substantial- it weighs 135.4 grams- well over 4 1/4 troy oz. It is engraved to the cartouche on the front with Janice May. It is hallmarked to the base with STERLING. Made of Old Sheffield Plate, the straight cylindrical body is stamped with verifications marks, makers mark and owners initials'J.H' and has a flared circular support, which is weighted for stability. The tankard has a scroll handle with a raised thumbpiece. This tankard is unmarked. It measures 12.4 cm in height and 13.7 cm in width. It weighs 433 grams. Inventory Control# M3 ONE(1) Antique Chinese Pewter Beer Mug/Tankard. Reticulated with engraved dragon design. Touchmarks on bottom read"Sengheng" Age is estimated as approx. circa 1900-1920's. Measures approx. 4-5/8" tall x 3-1/2" in diameter across the top. Still has the original glass liner. Which is in excellent condition. A few small dings here& there. There was a fair sized dent on the base as shown, but after taking photos I was able to push it mostly back out by hand(pewter is fairly soft) Please examine photos carefully to satisfy yourself with condition.
