Description Vintage Country French Sideboard or Buffet We are so excited to be able to offer you a few exquisite pieces from a local estate. The consignee is moving and felt they could part with just a few things and that makes this your lucky day! This lovely country French style sideboard was made especially for her grandfather when they lived in France in the 20's and 30's. Although she was told by someone it was cherry. I believe it to be golden oak. The piece is absolutely exquisite and has been in the same family for almost 100 years. Notice the wonderful hand carving along with the attention to detail in the shelf brackets. The closing mechanisms and the escutheons around the key holes. Rare Vintage or Antique French Wood Carving "Fisherman"
Offered for sale is this rare finely carved French wood carving The Fisherman. The carving has a label Made in France on the bottom. It was made around 1920's or earlier. The fisherman is smoking a pipe. He is wearing a turtleneck sweater and a jacket, you can see the knitting of this sweater. His right hand is hold a sack on his shoulder and his left hand is holding a fish net. The wood is very heavy and showing the age. The piece is hand painted but the painting material has some sort of problem, it has a lot of tiny dots. It is some sort of chemical change and not the mildew. Except the little dots the carving has no damage. Overall it is in excellent condition. You can easily find German or Italian carved wood figures, but it is hard to find an exquisite French wood carved figure like this. Antique silver serving set The set includes a large carving knife. Fork, and manche a gigot. The set is marked with the Minerva 1 for 950 silver content as well as the makers mark of Brosse& CIE which are listed as silversmiths of Paris in 1875-1914. The set also came with what appears to be the original box marked"made in France. The box is in bad condition; the lid has been broken off and the fabric is very worn. The Knife: Length- 12.25in- Weight- 3.1oz The blade is tarnished in several places; the silver handle is in good condition with minor surface dents and scratches. It has a shingle type pattern with an ornate leaf design. The Fork: Length- 10.25in- Weight- 3.6oz The prongs of the fork are tarnished and in several places there is rust damage. A very nice pair of carving tools in the original box. Stainless blade and fork with silver handles. They have the makers stamp but I can't quite make out all the letters- AVINL_ ENFER_ The knife measure 29.5cm(11 5/8" long and the fork 28cm(11" Condition is very good. Some slight usage marks on the handles. The box is yellow cream brushed cotton lined with the retailers ribbon in the top left corner. Condition of the box is good. It has a water mark on the base which can be seen in the photos. A quality item. Presented well in the original box.

This is a wonderful cabinet that certainly makes a statement wherever it is displayed. The cabinet is in its original finish and looks to be Mahogany or Walnut. antique gold gilt french arm chairs nice carving and new fabric large chairs
for auction a pair of very nice antique french gold gilt chairs. they are circa 1880 or so i believe. at any rate they are both large arm chairs with very nice form and carvings not only on the crest but arms and legs as well. jeanie just had them recovered in a very nice fabric that depicts bees. the cost to recover these two chairs was in excess of 500.00 but i have forgotten the exact amount. as i said they are large and it took a lot of fabric. chairs are in very good condition with only a few minor injuries to the gold gilt surfaces. i hope the pictures are good enough to actually give a better description about their condition and appearance than i have in mine. anyway. MID 19 C. SILVERSMITH WORK ON THIS 1880 FRENCH STERLING CARVING SET IN ITS ORIGINAL ANTIQUE WOODEN BOX THE TWO PIECES. A FORK WITH FINGER RETAINER, AND A KNIFE HAVE TWO HALLMARKS, ONE THE MAKER'S LOGO(L. G. AND ONE IS THE MINERVA HEAD CARTOUCHE FACING RIGHT. THE KNIFE IS 12 1/2" LONG; THE FORK IS 10 3/4" LONG MORE DETAILS: The carving set has identical handles with Napoleonic ornate leaves. Flowers and musical instruments around a medailon. Leaves are reaching around the medalion and a line of silver borders frame the medalion and the handles. On the top of the handle you have the Cartouche(hallmark) with the Minerva Head facing right, informing us that it is a sterling silver piece. Next to it, you have a diamond-shaped Maker's mark that has L and G for Legrand& Garnier. The handles appear to be made of two matching ... morehalves joined with decorative folds on the side. The end of the handles have a knob-like ending. There is a square forged iron piece and the joining of the handle and blade to avoid injury or slipping. I see no scratch. Damage or dent on the handles. This is a beautiful and old 1852 set of sterling silver(Minerva Head mark gives the authenticity) carving utensils! The knife blade and the fork tines are made of forged iron. This allows proper cleaning(with a Brillo pad) or sharpening(with another sharp knife) Knives with forged iron blades make the best carving knives.
