Beautiful hand-crafted Civil War period piece acquired from the Hanes Estate(Mrs. Hanes' Moravian Cookies) in Winston-Salem/ Clemmons area of NC from the old home built in 1762. The walnut wood is in excellent condition for it's age. The top of the chest has some very small cracks from the edge but not enough to notice at first glance. The drawer pulls are hand carved as is common for this time period. The drawers have race track molding and move smoothly but no key was available to lock them. This is a nice vintage jewelry box/chest made by MELE of Utica. New York. This box measures 12 1/2 in. x 8 1/4 in. and is 3 1/2 in. high. It is a locking box and still has the original key. Both the key and the lock are marked"MELE" The drawer on the bottom opens when the lid is lifted. It is lined with light blue velour. And the lid is lined with a lilac colored satin. Antique Wooden OAK Singer Treadle Sewing Machine Center Drawer Tray circa 1912
For Auction is a nice wooden center drawer from an antique Singer treadle unit. The drawer was from a desk that used to house an antique Singer Red Eye from 1912. This drawer is in very good condition. Nice oak wood with good color. The drawer measures 21" across at its widest point. Keep in mind there is a'lip' protruding from the right hand side of the face of the drawer. See picture#2 for detail. Please study the pictures carefully as they represent the condition of this unit well. The left hand rail has a slide groove- the right hand rail does not. Alas.the key is nowhere to be found.
