Scratches, and a couple of cigarette burns. The bench has been recovered and the fabric is in good condition The dresser measures 17 1/2" deep x 46" high x 32" wide. The vanity measures 17" deep x 28" high x 45" wide. The vanity mirror measures 34" high x 22" wide. Antique Mahogany Bedroom Dresser Set by Northern Furniture Company
What a beautiful set you've found! It’s a neo-classical high-quality mahogany five-piece bedroom set by the Northern Furniture Company of Sheboygan. Wisconsin, dating from the 1930s or‘40s. If this was period neo-classical, you’d be looking at paying in the high thousands, but this is a very unique copy, complete with the ebonized pillars, the simulated brass ormolu trim, and the diamond point ebony inlay, with brass ormolu style stars. A hard. Close-grained wood, mahogany can be strikingly veined or mottled, as observed in these pieces. The set consists of a four-drawer tall chest. Two single beds, a matching three-drawer chest, and a matching mirror. All finished in a dark reddish-brown color, with two glass tops, and the whole set is all ready to find a place in your home. The set retains the feel of its original neo-classical style ... morehardware. The gilding and black ebonized paint is intact. It’s really stunning. The overall sizes of the pieces, beginning with the tall chest, are 36 inches wide, 21 inches deep, and 46 inches high. It has the brass ormolu style trim across the top of the picture-frame molded top drawer, and the bottom three drawers are gold stenciled, and all drawers are dovetailed. The pillars are all intact, and there is a little gold star is down at the base of the French ogee foot and also has ormolu trim. Antique mahogany princess dresser by Widdicomb furniture company
Selling an antique mahogany princess dresser made by the Widdicomb furniture company in 1902. Completely refinished in hand rubbed oils and in pristine condition. Measurements are 45 inches wide. 26 1/2 inches high on the dresser part and 72 inches high with mirror. Beautiful carvings and the inside of the drawers are birds eye maple. There are two drawers above the one long drawer that is shown in photos. On the back of the drawer is signed by who worked on it and the date is Feb. 26, 1902. It is also dated on the inside of the mirror. Quality piece of furniture and has to be seen to be appreciated. The mirror is attached to dresser by a gear like locking method. ANTIQUE KARPEN VANITY MIRROR Acquired at an estate sale is this Karpen vanity mirror. The Karpen& Bros. furniture company was established in Chicago in 1880 by German immigrants Solomon and Oscar Karpen. At the height of their success in the early 20th century. The company employed several hundred people, and was considered a leader in the upholstered furniture market. Karpen was purchased in 1952 by the Schnadig Corporation. And towards the end of the 20th century the company was still manufacturing furniture from Chicago, with plants based in various locations around the United States. The original Karpen plate is present on the back of the bottom cross bar. Overall measurements are 25 ½ inches tall. 21 ¾ inches from foot to foot and 10 inches from the front to the back of the footed base. The mirror frame measures 21 ¾ ... moreinches tall. 15 ¾ inches wide and about 1 ¼ inches thick. The actual mirror measures 19 ¼ inches tall and 13 ¼ inches wide. The mirror pivots and there are metal turn knobs on both sides. The mirror has some antiquing lines and spots– difficult to photograph. There are no cracks. Chips or breaks in the mirror. The wood base and frame are all intact without any cracks. Breaks, damage or signs of repairs. Unknown wood. There are some scuffs and scratches to the wood that can easily be touched up. There is one tack missing from the backing- see photo- the backing is secure and in place.
