Antique American Miniature Chest of Drawers Hand Painted Decoration Early Doll
This middle 19th century chest is crafted of ash and walnut with thin pine wood backing and square nail construction. It measures 12 ¼” tall x 13 ¼” wide x 7 ½” deep and has lovely turned walnut knobs and lively side cuts at the base. The top and drawer faces feature red striped edges framing free-hand floral decoration in red and green under an original layer of golden varnish. The drawer fronts are excellent; the top has a split along the back edge. Round water marks and wear to the paint. This chest is fresh from a northern Indiana estate and has un-touched dirty surface. I don’t think the surface has been enhanced since the 1800s but you will note numerous round, wire nail repairs along the back rabbet into which the back slips with some splits and wood loss. Antique Federal Style Flame Mahogany Dresser w/ Mirror Chest of 6 Drawers Bureau
Antique Federal style mirrored dresser or chest of drawers dating from the early 1900's. Stunning flame mahogany veneers grace the surfaces of this piece and are decorated with intricate contrasting inlay. An inlay medallion of a lamp has been placed atop the swivelling mirror. This piece has six drawers ina 3 over 3 configuration. Providing ample storage space. All the drawers are made with high quality dovetail construction. The entire piece is raised off of the ground by short tapered square legs sitting on brass and wood casters. Overall. This piece is in good condition. There is some noticeable silver loss to the mirror(see pictures) but no cracks or other damage. The wood has some noticeable wear associated with age, including chips and breakage to the veneers or inlay, including the lamp maedallion at the top of the mirror. See ... morepictures. There is also a chip out of the left side finial and the right side finial is missing altogether. The knob that goes over the swivel action of the mirror on the right side has come off, but we do have it. The wheels of the casters do no turn easily and probably need to be oiled. Description: This listing is for a 20th Century Benchmade Chippendale Style Shell Carved Block Front Chest of Drawers over Ball and Claw Feet. This is an absolutely stunning work of art with attention shown in every detail of the case. The entire case is solid mahogany. With carefully selected grains that produce a glowing fire throughout. The rim is ruled around the front and sides over a top drawer with a gallery of three carved shells over the blocked encasements below. The two outmost shells are convex, carved out of solid mahogany, each flanking the concave central shell with a keyhole in the middle. The drawer has an incredible thick facade and, uniquely, no hardware- the key is meant to act as the pull hardware, the craftsman ... morenot wanting to distract from the shell carvings by adding hardware. The three following drawers feature incredible blocking over shaped molding that flows with the outline of the chest. Each drawer is hand dovetailed at the front and back, the top drawer having a single solid board bottom, each other drawer being two board construction. The case rests over incredible hand carved ball and claw feet, each flawlessly formed with detail in every joint, muscle and stretched nail. The back two feet are carved only in the front, much in the nature of the period chests, where an absence of any mechanical device meant everything was crafted by hand- the craftsman would regularly look for ways to reduce finishing work without detracting from the overall result of the case, as our craftsman did in this chest by leaving the back of the back feet unformed. This is one of the most precise and beautiful block front reproductions we've come across. An original block front is unattainable by all but the most affluent of collectors; this is the closest most of America will get to the real block front. European, Possibly Italian Item# 120008IRU26 This is a work of exquisite craftsmanship. Covered in a thick mahogany and rosewood veneer. The colors exemplified in this chest are simply remarkable. Inlaid with fine marquetry work, the musical instruments central to the commode are flanked on either side by books hanging from knotted ribbon. Two large drawers make up the case, each fully dovetailed front and back, exposed on the sides. Crisp gilt bronze mounts grace the corners and feet, allowing the cabriole legs to terminate in lion paw feet. The shaped marble top is heavy and in wonderful condition, restored at the back left corner. This came from England and has a metal plate on the front that says“This cabinet and its contents is the property of The Office Clean Towel Hire Co. Ltd. and is on loan to the user as custodian bailee. The oak cabinet is approx. 22 3/8” x 16” x 5 ¾” It has three shelves. The top section I used to hold Kleenex tissues. I especially like the door with the Red Cross symbol. It has Initial Office of First Aid Outfit painted on it. There are ventilation holes at the top and bottom of the cabinet. Some of the silver is lightly worn on the mirror which gives it that vintage charm I so love. The original finish is in excellent ... morevintage aged condition. There is a split in one section of the wooden towel bar which is not usual for it vintage age and usage. It can be hung with the two round hooks at the top. It is very heavy so use wall anchors with your screws to safely secure it to the wall. The wood backing on the inside that covers the mirror has a couple of gouges in the wood. You could remove the backing and replace the mirror with glass if you wanted to use it as a display case. I purchased this charming antique medicine cabinet from an antique store in 1983. I haven’t seen another one like this one since. I filled it with vintage toiletries and hung it in my powder room. Everyone always complimented me on this beautiful piece. I have recently remodeled. Purchased through an estate sale in old Charleston, SC and in lovely condition for a late 19th century piece with three wonderful beveled mirrors, lovely burl walnut on the front of the drawers, six small drawers and two large drawers for lots of organized storage and a nice top surface. The finish is in good condition, commensurate with it's age with only the minor nicks and dents one would expect with respectful use over time. The three beautiful beveled mirrors are clear and in very good condition, free of cracks, chips or pitting. In my close up I show how easily these mirrors on the side remove for easy and safe transport then are simply hooked back in place. This is a gorgeous high-quality diminutive Chippendale two-piece chest on chest with a broken arch flame finial on top. Probably dating from the 1920s or 1930s. Finished in a light reddish-brown finish, it has dovetail drawers, hand-carved clamshell carvings across the top drawer and bottom drawer, dainty little Queen Anne pad feet, and a heavy-duty crown molded broken arch top complete with two thick carved rosettes and a flame finial center. It’s all finished off with carved quarter columns going down the outside edges. Originally this chest probably had small finials on each side of the top, which are not there now but could easily be purchased. Description of item for sale: This classic Louis XV style bombe commode is from Italy and it dates to the early 1900's(1900-1925) This is a top quality piece with beautiful original hand painted artwork. Bombe(curved) surfaces on both the front and sides, solid bronze hardware and just the right proportions. The frame and the drawer interiors are solid oak. It is in very good antique condition with no damage to the woodwork and some wear, chips and staining to the artwork consistent with its age(see photos) The drawers all open and close smoothly, the locks all work and the key is with the cabinet. Antique Mahogany Vanity and Wastand or Chest Made In England
These are a very nice pair of Dressing Table and Washstand made in England circa 1900. There are 3 satinwood panels to the back of the Washstand, it also has the original cut glass handles, to the base it has what used to call a dog kennel were the dog would sleep below to the center. This would have at one time had a bowl and pitcher on the top were people would wash them selves. The condition is very good. The Vanity is in very good condition has all the same details as the Washstand but with a mirror and two trinket boxes to the top.
