The trunk has a hinged lid, and the original lining is still inside the bottom portion of the trunk. The trunk is made of wood, with a nice brown covering that is mainly intact, although it is torn in quite a few places, and metal reinforced seams. There is no key with it, and the original locking mechanism is now missing. The trunk also has two latches, one on each side of the main lock, that are a unique design and work well, although they are covered with a fair amount of surface rust. The trunk also has other label remnants on it from travel, as well as a partial guarantee label inside the lid.

Nice solid pine wood trunk refinished at some point in its life to a clean wood finish. The metal strap trims and lock are painted black. The supporting wood trim slats that support the dome portion are oak wood for strength. The grain in the natural oak wood gives the pine wood a nice contrast. This is a perfect size trunk for your bedroom measuring approx. 29" wide x 17-1/4" x 21" tallest. The interior is also very clean. The lift out tray compartment is wood not cardboard it sits on the wood rails to hold your dainty or small items while in storage. The handles are leather they look original to me, both are present. This auction is for a wonderful antique rustic shop trunk and it is really unique. It measures 11" long x 6 1/4" deep and it is 7 1/4" tall. It has the most wonderful look to it and it is marked"RED" and Electric Shop on the top in silver. It's handle is missing from the top(and the hardware on the front is missing too and there are no side handles) and as you can see this old handmade trunk is quite worn- it has marks. Dings, gouges, splits, surface loss, paint marks, etc. and when you open it up(it opens up in the middle) it has one side with a divider and the other one is one compartment and the piece in the center has sort of a flat writing desk as well.
