It was hand turned on a lathe and crafted from birds eye burled maple ... morewood. It is slightly out of round measuring about 10" x 9 1/4" x on one side 1 7/8" high and on the other going up to 2 1/4" high. It is in very good vintage condition with a nice patina. On the bottom there three black scorch marks where it looks like someone might have set it down on a hot burner. It is not deep and the signed name on the bottom- Munising- is still clearly visible. It is a really nice decorative bowl what would go well with any collection. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Munising bowls hail from their namesake town. Nestled on the South Bay of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Workers at Munising Woodenware Company, in business from 1908 to 1955, machine-lathed each vessel out of hardwood, usually maple, from the forests nearby. The factory produced other household items, such as butter molds, spoons and breadboards. The goods were sold at department stores, where many found their way onto wedding registries. During World War II, the factory fashioned 50 million tent stakes for the Army and the Marines. Of the many items the company made, the bowls were among the few types of pieces branded with its name. There is wear from use and I think it has been waxed with beeswax. There are two rustic nail things(metal) in the wood on the outside that appears to have been to stop two cracks from going further. Enjoy this great find which I purchased at an antique store in Pennsylvania. The owner told me that originally this was a 19th Century dough bowl. After careful examination I feel the legs were added at a later date. Probably still for use as a dough bowl, but it is reminicent of a restaurant Caesar salad bowl, and that is what I've used it for. With a wonderful warm patina, the three legs are sturdy and strong and level, making this stand securely. Almost a piece of furniture with an artistic feel. Notice the bowl has a gentle curve of the top rim and has hand-turned marks on the bottom. The three screws show through the top of the bowl and there is one small drilled hole near the rim, probably from when this bowl hung up on a wall-see pic#6. Antique Country Primitive Wooden Dough Bowl; Old Hand-Hewn 19th Century Trencher
This 19th Century dough bowl is a beautiful. Primitive piece. Hand-hewn and carved from a log, it has a simple but folksy style and is rather long and slender. It measures 34 inches long, 10 1/4 inches wide, and about 4 1/2 inches high. The dimensions vary a bit depending where you measure because this piece was crafted by hand. It has beautiful coloring and shows lots of age and wear. All the carving detail, gouges, grooves, stains and nicks make for the wonderful surface it has. This old bowl is strong, rugged, and sound; it doesn't have problems with active woodworms, termites, or dry rot. It's not overly wide so it would make a wonderful centerpiece without overpowering the table. Dough bowls are great pieces of decor because you can change the look from time to time simply by changing what you display inside it. This is a beautiful large primitive wood bowl! It is rare because of how large the bowl is. It was used for dough or bread and is in excellent condition with no cracks! The bowl can still be used today or can be used as a decorative piece. It measures 14.25 inches in diamater in one direction and 15 inches in diameter in the other. From an Upstate NY Farm estate dispersal and at ebay for your consideration is this nice primitive wooden bowl. Great warm patina. Measures 20 inches long overall length. Hand carved with plenty evidence of use. Does have a crack from getting to dry we just got this bowl in and have cleaned it and feed some vegetable oil. Poor thing was starving. Wonderful Antique Primitive Hand Carved Wood Dough Bowl 3 metal repairs LARGE!
We moved to a smaller home and I can no longer use this as a display. It is wonderful. It has 3 repairs to cracks. which I think makes it even look cooler than a perfect one. It has dents and dings and grooves all over it. I am measuring it as 20 and `1/2 inches to the handle end. 16 and!2 inch bowl diameter. It is about 3 inches tall. I do not know my woods so I cannot tell you what wood it is made from. I have never sold anything like this before so if there are any questions that need to be answered please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!

We are pleased to offer this antique wooden dough bowl trencher. This bowl is very large. Measuring 38.5" long. It has been painted a French blue or light teal and the paint has worn. The piece is in very good condition with some aging and wear. Not absolutely sure of the type of wood but am guessing a Maple wood. It is not dark and is not heavily grained. There are handles on each end. This is a beautiful old bowl with lots of rustic character. The outside measurements are 38.5" long x 16" wide. Up for auction is this lovely vintage solid wood dough mixing bowl. It was made by the Munising Wood Products Co. in Munising. Michigan on the shores of beautiful Lake Superior. Bowl measures a large 17 3/4 inches by 16 1/2 inches. Bowl height is 6 1/2 inches and has an inside dept of 6 1/8 inches. Bowl thickness is 1/2 inch. Weight of bowl is just under 5 pounds. The bowl is in extremely good condition. It is free of cracks. Splints or damage. We are not positive on the type of wood but believe it to be maple. Here we have a really wonderful 19th Century New England out of round dough bowl with a rich dark patina and turning lines. This old dough bowl measures 12 3/4" wide. 11 7/8" deep and 2 3/4" to 3 1/8" tall. It weighs 1 pound and 10 ounces. It has the most wonderful rich dark brown patina and it has an age crack. Wear and chop marks. This 19th Century trencher was hand crafted from one piece of wood which we believe to be ash or walnut and it is loaded with charm. It was hand turned. Shows turning lines, has a 3/4" lip and it is out of round. This dough bowl has early age appropriate evidence of use with chop marks and cut marks from utensils inside the bottom. There is a hole on the side for hanging when not in use and there is some loss of finish to the center on both sides along the age crack. It has a nice raised rim and one side shows something hot was laid on the edge(see photo#5) mentioned for accuracy. The bowl was used so much it wore through on the bottom. Now having a pea-sized hole, adding to its charm! I found this at an upstate New York show although the dealer was from New England. No side or rim cracks or hairlines. Very fine 19th Century New England Painted Trencher Bowl! Completely original in every way. Including the forest green Paint. Best surface you could ask for with lots of interior chop marks etc. The Bowl was hand-hewed from Maple, a very hard Wood and of the New England origin. There is usual wear from age but there are no cracks. Problems or large chips. A few small flea bites here and there. Primitive Old Vintage Farm Table Wood DOUGH BOWL Trencher 39" Long. Fabulous primitive old wooden Dough Bowl/Trencher. This bowl measures approx. 39" long and is approx. 15 3/4" wide. I've had this bowl for about 12 years and was purchased at a local farm auction. I love to store potpourri inside with candles nestled amongst the potpourri~great country or primitive look! At Christmas it looks wonderful with greenery and tiny white lights inside. Due to the large size I believe this bowl at some point in time was used to feed farm animals. There are signs of age and use and does have some surface cracks(none go all the way thru) There is a nick out of one edge, some insect holes and rough edges.everything that gives primitives that great patina we all love! There is already a hole drilled in one end if you want to display ... morethis on your wall. Large 15-1/2" Round Country Farmhouse Dough Bowl, Curly Maple Wood Vermont
Amazing nice condition and what a beautiful piece of wood it is. I'm thinking they used it for a centerpiece holding fruit as it show very little utensil marks. Measures 15 1/2" across the top and 4 1/2" tall. Sticker on bottom Kennedy Bros. Vergennes. Vt. the first 5 pictures are very true to color. I wish I could say that this bowl was 19th C. But I can't. more likely ca 1920. On the other hand, the worn blue paint is NOT some recent addition, but itself is from the 20s or 30s. and a magnificent blue it is. The age of the bowl is attested to by its shringage. she measures 13 3/4" in one direction. 12 3/4" in the other(4" high) There are no apologies. no cracks or repairs. Also, there is no reserve but buyer pays $14 for USPS domestic shipping.
