Dating to around 1910. This lovely quite petite table is constructed of solid oak and has a beautiful tiger grain pattern. It has a warm. Mellow patina to its honey brown colouring. The table features fantastic grain patterns to the top surface. Achieved through the use of oak planks, rather than one piece of timber. It also gives it a more rustic, casual dining feel. It stands on lovely turned and fluted legs and has a substantial shaped stretcher base. The table will comfortably seat 4, or 6 people if smallish chairs are used. The table measures 120cm long. 89cm wide and the table surface is 77cm high. The table is in very good antique condition. Structurally strong and robust. It does have some scratching and bumps to the table surface, but these only add to the charm and character of the piece, and provide that more rustic feel- very chic! Ornate Antique Victorian Carved Oak Wood Picture Frame
The outer dimensions of this antique frame are approx. 21 3/4" x 25 3/4" The inside dimensions. What size print will fit, are approx. 14 1/2" x 18 1/2" of course, you could also use a mat) The ornate borders are wood, most of the ones you find have a plaster or gesso that is molded to shape. Medieval/gothic oak carved tracery panels: part of 15th/16th century screen
These seven portions of an incomplete medieval carved oak tracery screen date from the late 15th/ 16th century and exhibit the skill of the carver to great effect. The screen is'blind' in that only one side is carved. The other side being flat and probably originally laid over panelling. The paired arches are moulded and bear cusps at their heads with finely carved and delicate protruding florets. Each pair of joined arches is surmounted by a roughly diamond-shaped floral carving. The base of each arch bears a central upright miniature'poppy-head' as seen on church bench-ends, especially in East Anglia. The widened base of each'poppy-head' encloses a carved flower surrounded by foliage. The oak has a rich patina acquired over many years: the backs of the pieces have that grey tone of age. Please see the pictures to ... moreget a better idea of the quality of these pieces. The sections are shown as they appear on my wall. With gaps allowing for any obvious missing sections. As the sections rest on a wooden ledge, the oak has not been damaged in any way; small brackets have been used to hold pieces against the wall. On the reverse, occasional use has been made of Blu-tak to help temporary attachment to the wall. I will number the pieces to allow easy assemblage. The whole'run' of pieces measures 1metre 20cm. With a maximum height of 59cm. The'poppy-heads' are 21cm high. The round pegs used by the carver to join sections are visible in places and the individual sections are, of course, quite fragile. Nevertheless, this tracery has been on the wall for 15 years without mishap and should last for many more years. A difficult thing to pack. I have estimated postage costs. I purchased these from an antique dealer in Carmel several years ago. Who had lived in Bali and Indonesia and had these shipped over many years ago. They stand stand 17" 17.5" tall(one a tad bigger than other) Including a 2" thick top, ... moreapproximately 50" in circumference, measured around the middle. Base is about 3" thick and measures about 14" with octagonal corners. Top measures 19"x 20" for one, other is 18.5"x 19" These are beyond fabulous for tables! They are so heavy and solid. I would guess they weigh at least 100 pounds plus, or more. Original paint, pinks, yellows, greens, more, all deeply carved with the ancanthus leaves, portion of a face in one. Symbolic I am sure, but I only know that they are antique, solid hand carved, with beautifully weathered old natural rustic paint. They are carved all the way around. I cannot hardly move to photo! Beyond shabby chic! Fabulous patina! The natural wear of salvage but that is their beauty! One side on each has a crack that doesn't go through that only adds to the patina. Please see photo of the only one to me, of any consequence, does mot interfere with use. Usually when found they are all cracked from weather but these still retain their artistic solid qualities! Salvaged from large house built at the turn of century. Quite sound. Does have some wear from a century of use. P art of it looks to have been panted many deca des ago. One of the nicer newels we have found. Quite majestic. And quite heavy. Shipping quote is for Federal Express. We can also ship for about $49 through Greyhound if you have a terminal nearby. From our experience it takes about a week to get to your terminal. They call you and give you 2 or 3 days to come and pick up. They charge a small fee for storage after that. Antique carved light oak wall cabinet
Carved Victorian Gothic style light oak wall cabinet measuring 60cm high. 33cm wide and 14cm deep. The key is missing but I feel sure that one could be found which would fit. The left door fastens with a push-up metal piece, and the right door stays closed. Inside there is a small drawer and two narrow side shelves. The carving is very intricate. Since the cabinet is just 14cm deep, it does not protrude much. I used it for years as a bathroom cabinet in a Victorian house, but it would look just as good in a modern setting. There is a very slight bit of damage to the base- scarcely noticeable, really, and there is a mark on the top shelf which could be sanded off if desired. To be honest, I think it is best to have it show signs of wear from a period of over 100 years use! From its weight I think postage would be about £14, but obviously ... moreif postage is less, the difference would be refunded. It could be picked up from me if desired. Arts and Crafts Carved Oak Hall Tree with Mirror
One-of-a-kind Arts& Crafts oak hall tree. Bold straight lines frame a large mirror and are masterfully carved with geometric patterns. Carving continues throughout the piece. Including the surfaces of the sides, legs and drawer and framing the overhanging molded top. Complementary decorative brass hangers and drawer pulls. Lower shelf, hooks and drawer allow for plenty of storage, making this a practical piece as well. Sturdy construction including dovetail joints on the drawer. Leaves and other carvings including column front legs and rush bottom seats, imported through Edinburgh, Scotland and in a Henry II style, these most probably were manufactured there in Scotland or perhaps England in the early to mid-twentieth century. I have noted in my description of condition above that three of the rush bottom seats on this set is broken through, and simply replaced at present with a wood board underneath the seat cushion. I have taken this into account and am selling these chairs"as is" for a great price for someone looking to invest a little love into bringing them back to their full glory by replacing the seats. These side dining chairs stand 37 inches tall and measure 17 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back. This sideboard was made around the time that Eastlake pieces had started to be constructed using oak vs walnut in America and when Eastlake was becoming less popular and Art Nouveau was the"in" thing.around the 1880's through the 1890's. So this solid quartersawn oak sideboard has the best of both worlds. The base has two drawers and two doors with lots of storage space inside. The doors are paneled and have very cool shell and foliage carvings. The hardware on the drawers and doors is original and there are two different keys which will lock and unlock each door. Besides the carved paneled doors. The other interesting carving on this piece is kind of a feathered or herringbone type carving. Description This is a newel post that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted. The original cap is intact and is trimmed in ornate molding. There are applied carved panels at the top on 3 sides. The shaft is fluted with ornate moldings at the corners. It is notched for the step but is freestanding. It measures 49 inches tall and 8.5 inches square at the base and 6.75 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. The base has a cut out for an electrical outlet. There is a crack on the back side where the hand rail is attached. Please see the pictures carefully. Description This is a nice antique pediment that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Mansion. It is made of walnut and oak and is currently painted brown. There is a nice curved crown molding along the top with carved fans below. It was originally part of a larger piece. It measures 30.25 inches long. By 13 inches tall. It's 3.5 inches thick. Overall. It is in decent condition. There are minor scratches and dins adding to it's antique charm. There are some part missing. What you see is what you get. Thanks. If you have any questions.
