The recorder is old and used. However has only few minor usage signs, as it has been well maintained. It looks like new, see for yourself, the corks seem untouched by time, for example. Has a very warm sound, a highly complex timber(Mollenhauer are well known for that) and is fully functional in quite good standing order. It has 48 cm long. With two holes fingering system, composed of three parts. It is Alto in F. With german fingering. The fingering table is attached in the original box. It is German made. Alto, made of wood(Although it is red. As the company is specialized in using Pear and Rosewood, this one I think it is made of Pear) By Mollenhauer company. And it has been bought in 77! Although old. It is well maintained, and has a very complex timbre and a very good sound quality coming with its age. The recorder is in a nice well ... moremaintained. With no any scratches, box, alongside with all cleaning items and the original fingering note. Up for auction is a vintage Catholic carnival mask from Bavaria or possibly Baden-Württemburg. Germany. This"portrait" mask represents a female peasant and is typically used in the celebration known as Karneval. Fasching or Fasnacht(sometimes Fastnacht) Fasching is the pre-Lent festival equivalent. Usually beginning the week before Ash Wednesday. Soon after Fasching season opens. A mock government of eleven guilds( Zünfte) are elected. Along with a carnival prince and princess who basically plan the carnival festivities. The guilds parade down the streets wearing masks and costumes, culminating in the biggest parades on Rosenmontag. The Monday before Ash Wednesday. Old German antique 4/4 violin with wood coffin case - Ready to play
Lovely antique German 4/4 violin with solid wood coffin case. Body length is 36cm. Fingerboard is 10.5 inches length. My luthier in Chicago recently completed $919 of maintenance including new custom bridge. New soundpost, new strings, new ebony chinrest, re-planed and re-glued ebony fingerboard, new ebony tuning pegs, new tail piece and tail gut, and new Hill fine tuner. I'm happy to provide repair receipt. It is ready to play! It has two interior labels. But I don't place much stock in labels. One label says Joseph Chardon 1872 and separate second label says Ladislav Herclik with handwritten 1915 date. My luthier doesn't believe it's a genuine Chardon after close examination of varnish and scroll. He says it's a German violin over 100 years old and in great condition for the age without any prior body repairs. The back ... morehas a few minor nicks in the finish which is normal considering the age. It has a sweet resonant tone and is perfect for advanced players. My luthier said that it would sell for $2600 in his shop. The cool wood coffin case has one hinge completely missing. The second hinge is loose and needs to be re-screwed and the entire exterior could be refinished. The interior doesn't need reconditioning in my opinion because the cloth material is intact. I'm really sad to part with it especially after the maintenance repairs plus I really like it's tone. As a female player. It's 36cm body length is too long for my playing comfort. Here we have a late 1800's Antique German Weather Clock/Weather Barometer. She is old& in some rough shape. Considering that this one was brought over personally when the family immigrated here from Germany. This one is more a shelf piece than it is anything else I have not had it where I could watch"weather" or not the people are shifting in and out of the house. Everything is in German& English the markings and the instructions. On the deck the left side says Schon/Fine weather, in the middle it says Veranderlich/variable, and on the right Regen/Rainy. The original instructions were mounted to the back of the clock and considering their age they are in pretty good condition. This item is 6" tall, 6" wide, 4" deep. The deer is missing the antlers and the item is a little rough and reassured by some wire ... morewrapped around the item to make sure it does not get any more damage. Unusual antique carved wood German barometer/thermometer/hygrometer. The piece has"B. Straub" carved on the front and lettering is all in German. I've not seen one that has the hygrometer included. Rather unique. The glass covering the hygrometer needs to be cleaned however. The thermometer section is porcelain with no chips or cracks. The barometer section is also in nice condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The carving well done in a Black Forest German style.The back side has tin covering the thermometer and barometer sections. It measures 16 1/4" by 6 3/4" approximately. Not quite sure how old this is; my best barely-educated guess(from hours spent Googling) is somewhere between very early 1900's and late 1920's. I'm not even sure WHAT it is! Another barely-educated estimate is a ureteroscope and some sort of cystoscope(Spulkystoskop" The impressed lettering on the lid. As best I can translate, says"Ureter and(coil?induction? Cystoscope with Coil?induction? Invention for Private Lecturer Dr. O. Ringleb" Inside the lid, the impressed lettering says"Georg Wolf G.m.b.H. Specially Made for Cystoscope" My 40 years in carpentry qualifies me to say"none of the three main doohickies in the case appear to be broken" There is one specialized light bulb in one of the instruments, there are 7 extra bulbs in the little plastic case with green label. The case, which looks ... moreto be made of mahogany; there are 2 substantial age-cracks in lid, and some expectable wear, but nothing horrible. Hinges and latches are nice and tight, working fine. The case was put together with glue and brass screws, built to last. There is a piece of old white adhesive tape on top left corner of lid, with writing; white or black cable" The"impressed" lettering was originally filled with gold-colored paint; most of that on the outside has worn away, but on the inside of lid, the paint is pretty much intact. Vintage Brown 19th Century German Violin Wood Case Good Condition | SC BX
Up for auction is an a great vintage 19th Century German Violin Carrying Case! This case is in good condition considering the age of the piece. The latch is stuck when opening it. But a little pull on the latch makes it open. The case will open by sliding the latch to the side. The interior of the violin case is lined with a soft green fabric material that looks and feels great. The green fabric is coming off the wood in some areas. The exterior of the case has some scratches and tears along the edges, but overall still looks like great classic piece. The case measures 31" long. 10-1/4" at it's most wide. And weighs 6lbs. The round part is 5" in diameter. The glass has a crack in it as pictured. Wood is fine. Brass( handles have wear(like paint wear and rough spots) Still looks nice though. I don't know how to test these things-the hand is pointed to"very dry" and it is in fact very dry. Other than that. I have no idea how to tell how this works. As is. I do not know a lot about this recorder. I uploaded 8 photos hoping you can tell more about it and the condition. It is a wood/wooden recorder and I noticed the blue plastic type of material case it came in has in raised lettering at the top'Made in German Democrat Republic' There' s some places on the wood where it looks like the shinier glaze color has scratched/wore in places. But. The wood looks to be intact. It sounds nice. Of course the only song I can play on it is'Mary Had a Little Lamb' There's also a little piece that came with it for cleaning purposes? as you will see in some of the photos. At the top. Antique Hand Fan Carved Wood & Fabric w/ LITHOGRAPH WOMAN in WOODS - GERMAN?
This is an antique folding hand fan. It is made of wood with cloth. The wood portion has a pierced/carved floral and scroll inset design on some of the blades and the fabric is a very muted bluey/green color with a lithographed picture of a Woman in the Woods. The back of the fan has a handwritten inscription on it. unfortunately we can't make it out. It looks like it is perhaps German- I say this because one of the words has the two dots(umlaut) over the letter. No rips or tears. But some discoloration due to age. The blades of the fan measure 10-1/2 inches in length and when opened measures about 19-1/2 inches across. There is a small brass loop and an interesting little decorative screw holding the fan together. Condition is not perfect, but nice considering its age. You will see very minor fraying along the top edge of the fabric ... moreand one small upper corner is loose. Otherwise I think this is a very nice old piece! 2 Vintage Wooden Arni? Bottle Stopper.German Wood Mechanical Bottle Stoppers These are two German wood carved mechanical bottle stoppers. They are hand made and hand painted. One is a gentleman on a barrel. When pushed on the level in the back. He will lift up his hat. He still has the original cork with some writing on the cork but no mark.He is in very good condition and the mechanics works everytime you push the level. He is 5 1/2" tall and barrel is 2" wide. The other one is a gentleman's torso, holding a stein of beer. When you push the level in the back he will open his mouth and brings the stein to his mouth. He is very well painted with lots of details and nice colors. He has the original cork. There is no name on them. I have sold several that were marked Arni and although they look like they were made by Arni, I am ... moreno sure if these are. They are German for sure. He is 5" tall and 2" wide. The caddy measures just over 7 inches or 18 cm high. And is 8 inches or 20.5 cm in diameter at the base. The tea caddy has an eight sided design with a domed top and a shaped foot on each corner of the base. Each panel is decorated with fruitwood inlay and accents of mother of pearl. Wood Dog Figure, German Dachshund Form, Hand-Carved, Early 20thC., Black Forest?
A highly detailed. Hand-carved wooden dog figurine in the form of a Dachshund, most likely German or Swiss, early 20thC. Unmarked, but certainly in the Black Forest style, this piece is well-crafted from soft pine or linden. The level of intricate detail and overall proportion is quite perfect. The overall condition is very good with age-appropriate wear throughout. The front and rear paws on the left side have small chips; there is an area of loss on the right ear; and an area of repair on the front right paw. There also appears to be a few areas with a gold finish(forehead& rear hindquarters) Please see photos for details and further description. His maternal grandmother, Mary Kohler Christman, was a true folk artist and produced many paintings for her own pleasure and that of the family. Very Rare and beautiful piece of nautical Art DECO! Vintage handmade waterline wood ship model of steam yacht GRILLE. Made by famous german workshop of Edmund Köster before WW2. Length of the model 14 1/2" overall. Scale 1:400. Please read about Köster here: Edmund Köster(1896-1943) was a great modelmaker and producer of waterline wooden ship models in Germany in 1930's. His shop( Köster- Schiffe) successfully functioned between 1932-1939 in Hamburg. Köster models were used by the German Navy. Travel Agencies, Port Officials, Fishing companies in their offices and as ID and promotional models. News-papers of that time called Köster an"Artist" Master of Visual Effects" Master of Abstraction" His models( mostly in scale 1:400) were simplified, but made as lovely and exact reflections ... moreof the general appearance of ocean liners, cargo ships, warships, fishing vessels and other kinds of ships. At the same time waterline wood ship models were produced in Great Britain. By Bassett Lowke, and in USA. By Van Ryper. Köster became especially famous for building large port dioramas the largest of which was the spectacular 75 square meters diorama of port of Hamburg in the 1:400 scale. This diorama did not survive the Second World War. Edmund Köster died in 1943 and all his production became short lived. Extremely rare and very demanded by collectors. After the war, a similar style of ship modelbuilding was adapted by some other German producers. A large exhibition of Köster models was organized in Hamburg in 1996 to commemorate the 100th birth-anniversary of the famous artist-modelmaker. See pictures for condition- it is excellent.
