measuring 9 3/4 inches high by 12 1/4 long by 9 inches wide good news for you bitters crate collectors. Here fresh from early in the 20th century is a vintage electric brand bitters crate that originally held 1 dozen small bitters bottles, all 4 sides are stenciled with wonderful graphics, there are some age cracks from the wood drying out but they do not detract from this rare and unusual find, on the side it states guaranteed under food and drug act 1906 by h. e. bucklin& co. so it is later than 1906, the crate has that wonderful patina of aged wood and has the original finish, the bottom of the sides seem to be a slightly different shade. it will be a while before you have a chance to purchase another of these. Antique Wood Egg Crate for a Gross(12 dozen) 144) Eggs. Chicken Hen House on Farm to Market Original Pressed Cardboard Dividers Is Vintage Free shipping included in the Buy It Now price! This FARM EGG CRATE is as complete as seen on E Bay today! I will say it is UNIQUE. Eggs collected in the hen house were gathered each morning and cleaned up. Then packed in this type of egg crate. Each layer holds two dozen eggs and there are 6 layers. For a total of 12 dozen or 144 eggs(one gross of eggs or a dozen dozen eggs. A common term in farm to market goods) The wood, type not known but likely a soft wood, like cottonwood, available nearly everywhere, was cut into small slats and and a wire at each corner with some keenly placed nails held it all together. It had to be sturdy to protect the eggs! And these carriers were! Pressed light weight pulp ... morepaper formed to shape to hold the ends of the tops and bottoms of the eggs between layers and light carton dividers to separate the two dozen eggs on each layer really did protect the eggs. Image the gravel and dirt roads. Flat tires very common in the 1920's to 1950's! Roads were rough and trucks bounced often. We lifted the lid off carefully(slide top to one side to clear the opposite edge, then tilt up and out) and took out the dividers and layers. They show use and some dirt but no rats, gold nuggets, etc. were found. The pressed paper layers were in very good condition for an estimated 60 to 90 years of age(hope I do as well) A couple tears in horizontal dividers were noted but these are hard to see and hopefully, the buyer will respect old age! Most compatible crates had no dividers at all! We did not try to clean anything due to this respect for its age and still in tact! But we judge it a danny!Chickens laid eggs or were dinner the next day! The farmer sold or traded directly with the little country, town and city markets. Vintage 1934 The Grand Macnish Scotch Whisky Wood Box Wooden Crate 20"x15"x9"
This auction is for an old wooden crate that was used to ship The Grand Macnish Scotch Whisky made by Robert McNish& Co. Ltd. of Glascow and London. It is dirty from being stored in an old barn for years and it has some white paint spilled down one side. It is still in solid and strong condition with no cracked or loose boards. The end board mentions the Liquor Taxing Act of 1934 so I guess it is from about that time. It measures about 20" X 15" x 9" overall. Low minimum bid!

Vintage Sebewaing Old Style Beer Wood Crate, with mallard duck image on side
This is a vintage wood crate from Sebewaing Brewery in Michigan. The beer used in the crate was Old Syle Beer and sides of crate featuring the flying Mallard duck symbol of the comapny. It also states since 1880. One of the ends also has readable print stating Sebewaiong Old Style Beer Since 1880. Made from Sparkling Well Water. Sebewaing Brewing Co. Sebewaing, Mich. the opposite end has no print. Both sides have a wood split but the integrity of the box is maintakined. The bottom has some issues as 2 of the 3 pieces are nice while the 3rd one has a crack and some small pieces missing and small split as a full length narrow piece has fell off. after the pictures. One of the sides has small chip missing at the top. The inside has the wood slits where dividers were once used. The cornmers and ends have metal trim. I have a vintage wood hinged Bolla wine box crate that hols 4 bottles. It has brass latches and hardware. A rope handle and measures 13 3/4" by 13 1/2" and is 3 1/2" deep. It has inside dividers that are completely intact and says IL vino classico d'Italia and has a pic of the Italian flag. The only flaw is at the bottom of the red stripe, there are 4 inches of wood that had pulled apart and has been reglued and the back hinges could be cleaned up a little.
