It was hand turned on a lathe and crafted from birds eye burled maple ... morewood. It is slightly out of round measuring about 10" x 9 1/4" x on one side 1 7/8" high and on the other going up to 2 1/4" high. It is in very good vintage condition with a nice patina. On the bottom there three black scorch marks where it looks like someone might have set it down on a hot burner. It is not deep and the signed name on the bottom- Munising- is still clearly visible. It is a really nice decorative bowl what would go well with any collection. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Munising bowls hail from their namesake town. Nestled on the South Bay of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Workers at Munising Woodenware Company, in business from 1908 to 1955, machine-lathed each vessel out of hardwood, usually maple, from the forests nearby. The factory produced other household items, such as butter molds, spoons and breadboards. The goods were sold at department stores, where many found their way onto wedding registries. During World War II, the factory fashioned 50 million tent stakes for the Army and the Marines. Of the many items the company made, the bowls were among the few types of pieces branded with its name. The bowl is in good condition for its age but it does have cracks and the band isn't ... moretight but it isn't about to fall apart either. It is definitely not watertight and you can see daylight through the cracks. The bottom of the bowl is flat and the edge of the spoon is textured. Look at the photos. Have you seen a spoon like that? It's almost like a primitive spork ;-). At first I wondered if the spoon was made out of horn, but I think it is wood. It seems to have layers. I'm not an expert, just an appreciator who grew up with parents who loved antiques and this is from their home. I am only guessing at the age of this. It is from the East Coast so it could be older.

It has a dry, primitive patina. It is in very nice condition except for a crack as pictured. I was going to do a repair to it but never got around to it. Rare Large Primitive Wood Dough Bread Bowl 14.25 inches in Diameter
This is a beautiful large primitive wood bowl! It is rare because of how large the bowl is. It was used for dough or bread and is in excellent condition with no cracks! The bowl can still be used today or can be used as a decorative piece. It measures 14.25 inches in diamater in one direction and 15 inches in diameter in the other. The bowl is about 5 inches deep and the wood is about 1/2 an inch thick. The bowl is very old and ask such as some marks due to use and age but is in overall excellent condition. We moved to a smaller home and I can no longer use this as a display. It is wonderful. It has 3 repairs to cracks. which I think makes it even look cooler than a perfect one. It has dents and dings and grooves all over it. I am measuring it as 20 and `1/2 inches to the handle end. 16 and!2 inch bowl diameter. It is about 3 inches tall. I do not know my woods so I cannot tell you what wood it is made from. I've had this bowl for about 12 years and was purchased at a local farm auction. I love to store potpourri inside with candles nestled amongst the potpourri~great country or primitive look! At Christmas it looks wonderful with greenery and tiny white lights inside. Due to the large size I believe this bowl at some point in time was used to feed farm animals. There are signs of age and use and does have some surface cracks(none go all the way thru) There is a nick out of one edge, some insect holes and rough edges.everything that gives primitives that great patina we all love! This is a primitive heart shape wood bowl that is handmade and at least 22 years old as I picked it up at a show and have displayed it in the spring. Now I want to pass it on. The bowl is rough cut wood and is uneven and crude but oh so nice on a shelf or table, the bowl contains 7 blue tinted eggs that are made of wood also. The bowl measures 8 inches across, 10 inches long and the sides are uneven being 3 inches on one side and 3 1/2 inches on the other side. If you want to throw in some grass that would also be nice. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE 20.5" WOOD TRENCHER DOUGH BOWL This is a beautiful dough bowl that was acquired recently from an estate in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Although this primitive wood dough bowl was carved from one piece of wood, it has a nice smooth finish. In addition to its length of 20.5' x 10' wide and 4" deep. It is doubled handled and shows a few small white paint specks on the surface of one side. Can be easily removed. It remains in very good condition. Very smooth surface separation/ crack has been repaired near one handle. This wonderful old trencher with its old aged patina and color will look great and is a perfect size for your harvest table or wherever you decide to use it. This is a rustic antique wooden bowl made by Rio Grande in the U.S. It is made of turned maple and is painted with pretty green ivy leaves. The artist has signed their initials"FS" along the leaves. It has 3 wooden feet. This probably dates somewhere from 1930 to the 1940's. I have more wooden bowls for sale so see my other auctions. It measures 11" by 10.5" across and 4" tall. LARGE ANTIQUE WOOD DOUGH BREAD BOWL WOODEN HAND HEWN TRENCHER THREE LEGGED VINTAGE Up for sale is this primitive. Large hand hewn trencher or wood dough bowl. This stunning round bowl was hand carved from one piece of wood. The bowl is applied to three spindle legs which were turned on a lathe. The bottom of the legs has a round ball and or a acorn design. The bowl has a lovely patina and is in good condition for its age. There are a few imperfections on the wood as well as a crack in the bowl. The crack looks like it was repaired with a type of sap. Antique 19th Century Mid 1800's Large Primitive Wood Dough Bowl
This antique wood dough bowl was passed down to me by my mother in law. Who was born in 1928. This bowl belonged to her great grandmother. Since we can't trace the bowl's origin any earlier, we conservatively estimate that it was made around the year 1850. It is unmarked and was given to me at the same time as the wood rolling pin, which is listed separately. The bowl measures about 15" across top. About 20" from rim to rim on the underside, about 4" high and wood is about 1/2 an inch thick. Weight is around 3 lbs. I have no idea what type of wood was used in the making of this bowl, but I have included various close up photos to show the grain details. It is a beautiful bowl. The one and only condition issue is the crack in the center of the bottom. It measures about 1/16th of an inch in width and about 2" in ... morelength. The bowl will not efficiently hold liquid, but still works very well for its' original dough purposes, or of course, as a decorative antique item.
