According to the owner. The store closed in the 1950s, but I have found a handful of items that appear to be as new as the 1960s to 1980s. At any rate, all of the items have been in storage for decades and nearly all are NEW OLD STOCK! Most items date from the 1880s to the 1950s. If you collect old drug store items, this is an opportunity to purchase some really nice items! This item is a circa 1900 Peet Bros. Mfg. Co. Silk Soap wooden shipping crate. Peet Brothers was a Kansas based soap manufacturer that was founded in 1872. Their products included Crystal White Laundry Soap. Crystal White Soap Flakes, Creme Oil Toilet Soap, Imperial Peroxide Toilet ... moreSoap, Sea Foam Naphtha Washing Powder, Borax Washing Compound, and many others. The company's main plant was located in Kansas City. In 1926, Peet Peet brothers merged with Palmolive to become Palmolive-Peet Company. The colored printing on one side is in EXCELLENT condition. The printing on the opposite side has partially worn off. As is the case with one end of the crate. One end has no legible printing on it. The crate has very nice dove tailed corners. There are a few cracks to the wood that can be seen in the photos, but nothing major. The crate is complete, with no missing pieces. Overall condition of the crate is VERY GOOD. It measures 17-1/2" X 15" X 10" Display it, use it as a table, store your old vinyl records in it- the possibilities are endless. This is a wonderful example of old drugstore memorabilia! Offered for auction is this hard to find Walter Baker& Company Chocolate Shipping Crate. This company is the oldest producer of chocolate in the United States. It is a 10 1/8 by 7 1/4 inch wooden box that stands 7 inches tall. All four sides are decorated in impressed ink stamped labels. The lateral joints are tongue and grooved with box jointed ends. This crate is in great looking condition. The corner box joints are a little loose but are holding together well. There is one board chipped on the top edge. The labels are bold and easily legible. This entire piece is 100% original. With no restorations.

One inside side panel has the solid Vernor Ginger Ale graphic and the date of 6-53 is stamped on the inside above the handle. The steel bands keep the piece structurally sound.
