I may have mixed the doll clothes and the baby clothes as it is hard to tell with some of them. I think this must be two different lots of clothes as some look considerable older than others. Some are stained, none have been cleaned as I don't dare try. There is quite a variety of dresses, pantaloons, bibs,bonnets etc. some quite lovely and in good condition, some quite worn. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. 1800's Antique Wooden Doll Child's Trunk Chest Square Design Removable Tray
Fabulous 1800's Antique Doll or Child's trunk. In great shape for it's age- very sound structure and no mildew or musty smell. Measures in inches approximately: 9.75 D X 16 W X 11.5 H. Has been in the family since the early 1970's. Features: Small wooden chest of square design with lovely red/brown lithograph paper bearing beautiful designs. Inside there is a removable. 2 compartment top tray. Tray rails are solid and existing. Tray fits firmly and is supported. All metal stays are solid and in place. Paper covering is original. No mildew or musty smells. Metal features are not damaged nor bent. Lid closes firm and completely aligned. Hinge tight. Straight and completely aligned. Inside. Hinge to keep lid from closing unexpectedly(I have not confirmed if hinge locks fully extended, but the lid holds itself up just fine with ... morethe hinge nearly extended to full position) Noteable known defects- see pictures. Leather side handles are missing. Water stains at the bottom. But no water damage inside Some missing paper at edges. Some edges and a section on top. Crack on top of lid and another one on one side. Depression in front side of tray. About the size of a finger. Edge wear. Including an exposed nail. No key- have not tried to latch the lock. Note: A long time ago a piece of paper covering. The size of a nickel came off and was stored inside the chest. I don't know where it came off from. It's included in case you wish to mend it somewhere. Antique Victorian 1800's Wooden Dome Top Trunk Old Lock Original Finish Description: Antique Victorian 1800's Wooden Dome Top Trunk Old Lock Original Finish ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Offered is a great antique wood dome top trunk. It has the original finish and great old hardware lock. Purchased at an antique auction it dates to the mid to late 1800's. The inside of the trunk is lined with layers of antique newspapers dating to 1865. Great old advertising. The newspapers are not in the best of condition and are hanging in some areas and falling apart. I have left them as they were found because it does help verify the age of the trunk. Most people will want to remove the paper and clean the trunk. You may be able to save some of the newspaper and advertising. The trunk measures about 11 inches high. It is 11 inches deep(front ... moreto back) and 21 inches side to side. It is in good antique condition. There are imperfections as would be expected. Marks in the wood here and there and there is a slight separation of the boards on one end as shown in the photos. Please refer to photo#5. The lid of the trunk has a separation in the boards; please refer to photos 7& 8. An unusual lock which I am not familiar with. It has a small lever which slides over the opening for the key and this does stick a little; it should loosen up nicely with a little care. I do not think all of the lock is there; it appears there should be another piece on the lid. As I said I am unfamiliar so I am not sure; just using my best guess in regards to the lock. Please refer to photo# 6. There is no key. Wonderful old trunk. It looks great displayed and would be a nice addition to any collection. This is a genuine heavy-duty solid wood immigrant trunk with an arched top. Markings say"PATD 1880" on the metal seals on the top. The exterior has embossed tin accents. The interior has a removable shelf for storing smaller items. And the main storage area is spacious. Exterior dimensions are approximately 28 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 18 inches tall. Front lock doesn't work. Two clasp hardware still work. Leather handles present on one side, but fragile. Lid opens and closes easily. It is missing the locking hinge arm that allows the lid to be kept open at a 45 degree angle. It is solid and able to carry weight. Has name written inside. Antique Dome Top Wooden Steamer Trunk- 1800s- Local Pick Up You are looking at a dome top wooden steamer trunk from the 1800s. This trunk has definitely been used. And it is in its original condition. It comes with 4 original(3 currently installed) casters on the bottom. I have included a pic of the bottom showing all 4 casters. As you can see by the pic, the top right caster is detached due to wood loss. The term"original condition" also includes the following: One of the side carrying straps is missing. The lower section of the left hinge for the lid has become detached(see pic) The wood slat second in from the right has suffered a split at the peak of the dome(see pic) There is no key. OLD antique Steamer Trunk Wooden Trim luggage suitcase HAMBURG AMERICAN LINES
You are bidding to purchase an amazing primitive antique steamer trunk that is unmarked. But reminds me of the Louis Vuitton ones. And covered with a textured substance that reminds me of leather. But I’m not sure that’s what it is. I appreciate any information you can provide about this well-traveled piece of history. It is wooden and has rounded corners and measures approximately 33 x 21 x 13 inches and has leather strap handles on the ends for easy carrying. One end of the strap is secured to the trunk and the other end will slide back and forth to a metal stop so that the leather handle will lay flat when not in use and pulls out for a comfortable grip when moving it. This case features a rounded wooden trim with metal(possibly brass) guards on the corners. It has 3 metal hinges to hold the lid in place and a metal trim band around the ... morelid and along the front side corners. There are several labels or stickers on this case. Some of them read: On the right end: HAMBURG-AMEWRIKA LINIE D. DEUTSCHLAND(I believe this is the Hamburg-American lines) Another one also reads HAMBURG AMERIKA LINIE A third one on that end is worn but is also from Hamburg America Line(per the logo) A forth one on that end says OBERSEE-GEPACK-NR. With a number that looks like it may be 23803 followed by S. DEUTSCHLAND HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINIE(THE LAST LINE HAS BEEN WORN AND IS MOSTLY ILLEGIBLE) The white label on the other end has a number 9. And the text is illegible but looks like it might also say Hamburg. The label on the lid is the amazing oval paper orange label that has a steam boat on the upper portion of the label. Just above the logo HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINIE and at the bottom of the white square it says NEW YORK and has a place for name, vessel and date. The outer area has text and says PRINTED IN GERMANY. The name written in ink is faint and I cannot determine the name– it looks like ANN… and the last name looks like it starts with an H. I cannot tell the name of the vessel or the date. Vintage WWII Japanese Footlocker/Trunk. Made of wood(not sure what kind) Is a little"rough around the edges" but sturdy. Several nails have been hammered inside the lid(see pics) One latch is missing(see pics) Dovetail like construction(but NOT dovetail) Name engraved is Hachiro Kita. There is some writing on the front of the box in(I think) indelible marker. I'm not certain what the inscription means(if anything) My guess is that this was used during the period when the U.S. created'camps' for the Japanese that lived in the States during the war. Did some brief internet research on Hachiro Kita and it looks as though he may have lived in Colorado during that time. None of this information is confirmed. However. If you have any insight. Antique Wood Wooden Chest / Marriage Box Trunk Hand Painted Flowers / Tulips
Hi. For sale an antique wood/ chest(circa 1800s/ early 1900) marriage box. I am not positive of the boxes origin but I believe this is Folk Art. There are hand painted tulips on the edges and hand painted white flowers used in early American art. The measurements are 17 inches wide or long. 9 1/2 inches in height, and 7 1/2 inches deep. The chest/ Box weighs 11 pounds. It does have wear which is to be expected for it's age. The paint on the flowers have faded in some places, there are a few cracks on the wood, one is on the bottom(does not go all the way through, and one is on the inside of the lid. Wood shrinks with age and cracks are normal. There are a few places where wood has chipped off(one on the foot) the lock is missing and there is a heavy patina especially the places that would get the most use(by the handles. The front side ... morehas a darker patina(see 2nd picture) than the back side, it was probably sitting up against a wall and was covered on the top. The feet did have felt pads at one time. The rivets(or nails) are old type nails. It is made very well, it is very heavy and sturdy and it closes fine. Vintage wood bound steamer trunk. There are no identifying marks on the hardware or trunk other than the number 75 below the keyhole on the latch. I believe this trunk was made in the UK as the estate I acquired it from had many vintage items from Europe. However that is not for certain. I am not a collector and know very little about old trunks. So I have taken pictures from every angle so you can see the entire trunk. Please note the third picture, upper left hand corner, a small piece of material is missing. Also note the last picture.the wood banding was broke and repaired at some point in time. Antique CHILD'S DOLL STEAMER TRUNK Metal Over Wood, 3 Wooden Drawers & Hangers
This is a wonderful antique streamer truck/chest for doll's clothes. A toy most girls had to have at the turn of the 20th century. I'm not sure how old the trunk is. It is made of thin metal over wood and the metal reacts to a magnet. The trunk has a center key lock(non working) and 2 metal clasp brass colored steel(magnetic) All 4 corners have the same brass colored metal with tacks. There is a black metal band along the center edge with grommets or tacks. A leather strap embossed with the number 22 allows for easy carrying by an adult as the trunk weighs 16 pounds when empty. The handle is sturdy but has light surface cracks. In its upright position. The trunk opens to a wooden interior with 3 stacked drawers and a side for hanging the clothes. It does come with the 7 original wooden hangers(one is missing from the picture) The ... moredrawers can be removed and are stack-able within the trunk space. Slight loss of the blue paint on the edges of the right side. The trunk measures 22" tall x 12" x 12" There is a blank metal tag on the top near the handle. This was bought on e-bay about five years ago- as a gift for my son- who is now into Danish teak and has asked me to sell it for him. Think it was originally a brass bound cedar? household chest. That had a shaped pedestal fitted around the turn of the century along with extra brass hasp and staples for padlocks. Fine 19th Century Vintage American Wooden Travel Trunk w/ Brass & Iron Hardware
This is one of the finest early American Trunks I've seen. The interior has two tiers. The top, to store smaller items and the bottom portion, larger items. The entire interior is covered with canvas and designed with graphic images shown in the above images. The trunk is in great shape. And has all the original hardware. Refinished antique wooden steamer trunk circa late 1890’s. Early 1900’s with original hardware. This has a wonderful flat top surface, perfect use for a table or at the bottom of a bed. Plus it is nice and roomy, excellent for extra storage. The inside has been stripped of the original paper. Brass colored hardware and front lock, no key. Original handles in tact, which is rare as most broke off over time. The wood has been finished in a nice warm medium pine color with a not to shiny, not to dull, just right finish. The metal hardware has not been repainted, only cleaned. I like to leave the hardware in its found state. Rear hinges are in working order and original inside hardware holds lid up perfectly. There is a stress crack on the top, normal for antiques trunks as they were packed and then stacked for traveling. The bottom shows some ... morewear. Shabby yet Chic Old Blue Wooden Trunk with White Lettering
What a great find! Up for sale is this very cool. Very chic trunk. It is a bluish color with white lettering on some spots- it says"caution" on it and there are some numbers on it as well. Don't know exactly where it came from as I got it at an estate sale. It is very cool for any room of your house. The dimensions are 20 in long X 9.5 in wide X 9.5 in deep. This is great for home decor, storage, just about anything. It has 2 metal handles on the sides, metal on the front and it's just so unique- definitely a conversation starter.
