There are 2 latches on the front and a hasp for a lock on the front also. The inside of the cover has a door that opens and there are some compartments behind this door(inside the cover) On the inside of this door there is a diagram that shows where the original contents that this box once held would be stored(contents are not included. This is an empty box) There are 2 stickers with a person's name written on them that are stuck on the diagram(please see photo) On the outside of this door there are 3 straps that have snaps on them; the straps are very tight. There is a chain that connects the cover to the bottom of the box so that the cover will stay in an upright position when the cover is open. Inside the bottom

Antique Wooden Painted Nautical Sailors Fishing Chest Trunk Box 1800's Steamer
This is an AMAZING antique fishing chest. I think it's late 1800's maybe really early 1900's. when I purchased it there was a bunch of old salt water fishing hooks and a sting ray barb& other cool stuff in it! One of the almost completely deteriorated paper boxes of hooks read 1910 on it, so I know it's at least that old. There are awesome adjustable wooden cubby compartments on the inside& spots to put a rod on the inside upper lid. In the pictures I left some of the fishing stuff in there. But its cleaned out now. There are some amazing graphics on this chest. On the top of the chest is a nautical compass reading north east south and west, on the front under the latch(which is fully functional) are the initials F.D.JR. On the right side of the chest are three flags I'm not sure if these three flags identify the ... morearea in which it was made? maybe someone with nautical knowledge will know for sure. And on the left is an anchor with rope twisting around it. Im pretty sure these are all hand painted. Or super old decals. But I'm pretty sure there hand painted. The chest appears to have a sealant on the outside. Which I'm sure they would have done to help protect it from salt water. There are no major cracks in this chest. I have put no chemicals on it to clean it. Just a damp rag. Now a couple down sides to this beauty: the back hinges have rusted and broken.see pics) and on the sides it looks like there were a couple ropes screwed in to keep it on board? That are gone. And a few cracks on the bottom. The chest measures 22" long X 10 1/2" wide. And sits 8" tall. If there are any questions please feel free to ask& I will answer them best I can. WWII hand built wooden shipping trunk made by the sailor himself has the sailor’s name and the names and locations of his destinations painted on the top of the trunk with a removable inner compartment. There are brass bands around the exterior trim and small brass tacks/screws that hold it in place. A leather handle and a metal latch that you can put a pad lock on. There are rivets on bottom of the trunk and on the opposite side of the trunk that opens(opposite side with the handle and latch) for added extra protection to the trunk and all is original. Trunk companies made these small trunks as samples to display the workmanship and the hardware that could be used on the larger trunks. These are very rare. We have been restoring trunks for 17 years and this is only the 4th one we have seen. It does have some small cracks on the top. It has the new leather handles. Here's an antique Chinese solid wood brush pot. It appears to be made of a section of a rosewood trunk. It is very solid and heavy. It is left in its natural state without any additional carvings or modifications. Measures 5.75" H x 8" in diameter. Weighs approximately 7 lbs. There are dry cracks in several places. Antique Steamer Metal Trunk With Wooden Top Unique Open On The Side
This is a old metal vintage steamer trunk that opens from the side. Not sure about the age. It's in pretty good condition for its age. The top is wooden. There is some small damage on top that could be replaced or leave it as is. The inside is great. The lock is a little bent. I'm pretty sure you can straighten it out. 19th Century Golf Painting on Vintage Wooden Storage Trunk
This is a rather unique vintage wooden storage trunk that has been painted with a vintage 19th century golf scene of two well dressed gentlemen engaged in the“olde” sport of golf. The box with a dome lid measures approximately 20 X 14 X 18 and is secured with a clasp closure on front and carried using a set of handles on the side. The box is lined in brown suede on the inside. The box originates from an area near Augusta. Georgia, home of the Masters tournament that was co-founded in 1934 by legendary golfer Robert Jones, a course of his design. The potential historical significance of the box is only outweighed by the attractive addition it makes displayed with any vintage golf collection.

This vintage steamer trunk is made of wood and has steel reinforced edges. It has brass plated hardware. The leather handles on the sides are gone. The inside is covered in a blue floral design paper as is the wooden insert. This trunk does not have any cracks or splits. It is 17 3/4" long, 10 1/2" wide and 10 3/4" tall. I believe it was a folding door panel. The panel measures 18" x 15 1/4" in the open state. It folds closed on fabric hinges to measure 8" x 15 1/4" The panel is made of wood that is covered with decorative paper and a lithograph image of a Union Civil War soldier. The soldier has a drawn sword and sits on a spirited white horse(note the saddle is marked. U.S" The image of the soldier(including decorative boarder around him) measures 10 3/4" x 7 1/2" The panel is covered in various papers and appears to be hand crafted. The boarders are glued on strips of paper. The background paper is blue plaid on one side and a geometric design on the ... moreother side. The paper colors are red, gold, blue, and black. The lithograph of soldier is very colorful with all colors. There is some damage to the middle of the image as you can see.this where it folds in two and the years of folding have worn the paper thru. There are stains and tears to this item. but no strong smell.actually kind of a pleasant smell(maybe the wood) There is a leather tab still attached on the front side. There were small square nails holding this panel at one time(I removed for shipping and will not include unless you ask for them(2 each) If you look carefully in the sky area to the left of the soldier there is a faint stamp which reads, return in 10 days to Pana, Illinois" Pana is near Springfield in the center of the state) This is a very interesting old item in"as is" state.
