19TH C. SHAKER RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY WOOD SEWING BASKET HOLES 4 THREAD AUTHENTIC
I believe a Shaker piece of this nature is quite hard to find. This example has the loose and tattered cloth lining with the nearly perfect thin wood basket and handle. You can see the paired tiny holes designed into the side of the basket which allowed threads to be pulled thru for ease and control in handling. There is a thin paperboard that looks like it fit into the inside. However I cannot make the paired holes match exactly with the holes in the side, which suggests this liner might have been intended for another piece. The green cloth covered bottom fits nicely into place and is undoubtedly intended for this basket. The oval basket measures about 11" x 8" x 3 3/4" The four"fingers" fingers forming the gripping side are undamaged and the pins are of copper. The Crowned Leopard for London, the Lion Rampant for Sterling and the Date Letter"e" for 174o and the Maker's Mark, S.W for Samuel Wood. The Castor is a great size for display or actual use if you so choose, measuring approx 4-3/4" tall by 1-3/4" wide across the body. It is also in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of age and use plus some minor damage to the pierce work to the lid. This is a Stunning Antique Wooden Butter Churn. I was told this is an Antique Shaker Butter Churn- The Wood bands are Classic Shaker. The Owner said that she purchased this in the 1980's at an Antique Shop in PA. I'm not an expert. But I did find one very similar to this on the internet, and it was a Shaker. I took many photo's so I will let you be the judge. It is about 14 inches tall to the rim(not including Handle& Paddle) 8 inches in diameter across the top rim. Bottom is about 9 inches in diameter. Flat Paddle for Turning the Butter is about 20 1/4 inches long. Fantastic Patina with much dust build-up in the nooks& crannies. I think you're going to Love this rare find! Over all very good condition- The only issue is the bottom band is loose. I don't want to glue or nail- so I will leave it up to you. Please let me know if you have ANY questions. Antique, Primitive Childs Rocking Chair, Shaker, Cane, Wood Woven Seat & Back
I don't know much about this chair so I have something wrong. Feel free to let me know. It's a very solid chair with great design and hand done ornamentation. Very simple with lightly carved spindle ends and woven back and seat. Judging by the wear I'm guessing it's over 100 years old. The weave is in good shapeand all joints are very solid. I believe it's made of maple or poplar. Aged very well and sits straight and strong. Wood on most of it appears to be hand carved and worked. You can see some areas had painted or stained accent areas that have faded. Chair is about 2 feet tall and rocker rails are also about 2 ft long. Looks like it would be for a toddler. Vintage Wood Shaker Style Decorative Box-Hand Painted-Fabric Lined-Great Storage
Up for auction is a wood decorative shaker style box that is in excellent condition. It is 4 1/2" tall and 8" across with a fabric bottom lining. It is hand painted in a decorative red and blue motif. It is quite sturdy. Constructed well and great for storage!
