THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. I am not positive of the boxes origin but I believe this is Folk Art. There ... moreare hand painted tulips on the edges and hand painted white flowers used in early American art. The measurements are 17 inches wide or long. 9 1/2 inches in height, and 7 1/2 inches deep. The chest/ Box weighs 11 pounds. It does have wear which is to be expected for it's age. The paint on the flowers have faded in some places, there are a few cracks on the wood, one is on the bottom(does not go all the way through, and one is on the inside of the lid. Wood shrinks with age and cracks are normal. There are a few places where wood has chipped off(one on the foot) the lock is missing and there is a heavy patina especially the places that would get the most use(by the handles. The front side has a darker patina(see 2nd picture) than the back side, it was probably sitting up against a wall and was covered on the top. The feet did have felt pads at one time. The rivets(or nails) are old type nails. It is made very well, it is very heavy and sturdy and it closes fine. It is a very beautiful piece whatever its origin is and the paint job is intricate and looks like it was very time consuming. Please email with any questions I will be glad to help. Early 1920's Wood Blanket/Storage Trunk Chest Dovetail 33 1/2"x 22"
Came from a German family. Very nice late 1920's sturdy blanket chest, has inside cubby storage box which has a keyhole lock but no key. The chest measures 33 1/2"long x 22" high x 18 1/2" deep(front to back) Do not know the wood but has a reddish tone to it. You can see on top there is a surface crack(not all way thru) and it measures about 14" There are the normal scuffs from being old and used all these years. Looks like at some point the scratches were covered with a darker stain. There is some small chipping at the feet just in small areas. A little stain coverage is all that would need. No broken parts or hunks of missing wood. Some of the boards look like just one and not pieced together. Please ask any questions. Pick up only. Antique WOOD money chest KOREA box wrought iron fixtures Excellent condition A++
This is a wood box with wrought iron hinges and clasps from Korea. The front. Back and the ends are not nailed but are rather dovetail construction. Hinges allow the top to open up. There are short"legs" underneath. Although I am not an expert and cannot guarantee age or anything beyond my description, I know the box came from Asia in the 1980s and was represented to be a genuine antique. My best guess personally is that it is 19th century, but it could be somewhat earlier; this is based on the condition of the wood inside the box, the dovetail workmanship, the ironwork and their fasteners, and the overall condition of the finish, which seems to be a kind of varnish. The lock shown in my picture is obviously modern- the buyer can have it although many would probably discard it since it is obviously not what would have been used ... moreon the box originally. Size is approximately 10" x 18" standing just over 10" high. Condition is excellent- there is a little wear on it consistent with age but I see no damge of particular note and don't believe it has been repaired or restored in any material sense. I don't know the use of the box but it seems pretty obvious that it was for valuables of some sort, most likely money or something although I suppose it is possible that it was used to store articles of some type that had special value or rarity. Because I am not certain how high bidding might go, I am reluctant to include a Buy it Now option. Given the possible uncertainty of how old the piece might be, a winning bidder may return the box to me for full refund of the purchase price, with buyer paying shipping costs, however, within a reasonable period(a week or two) if a buyer concludes the box is not at least as old as 19th century.

This vintage wood bench doubles as a chest on 4 legs. There are cedar chips inside so it has been used like a cedar chest. The top measures 57 5/8" long x 14 7/16" wide and stands 19 1/8" tall. Primitive Old Wood Three Drawer Childs Chest / Apothecary Jewelry Box Old Paint
This is a very nice old wood three drawer childs chest. Apothecary or jewelry box. It has old white paint on it and scalloped edges on the bottom in the front and the sides as seen in the pictures. The box is in very good condition with no chips but the top does have a tight crack in the back. It also looks like the back of the box may have been replaced at one time. The chest or box measures 14 1/2" across the front, is 7 1/2" deep from the front to the back and stands 11 1/2" tall. The top of the box measures 15" long x 8" wide. All three drawers are all in very good condition and have old metal pulls. They are constructed by the corners being notched together and are ribbed in the front as seen in the pictures. Here is a lovely I believe"maple" silver flatware chest. This wood box with brass hardware will hold a 12 piece setting and a drawer for extras. The drawer has dovetailed joints. This chest measures 16 X 11 and 1/4 inches and it is 5 and 3/4 inches deep. It will weigh 10 pounds packed in a 12 X 12 X 16 inch box. This is in very nice vintage condition and the lid and drawer close tightly preventing your flatware set from tarnishing. It is lined with a tarnish resistent velvety cloth as well. It does have some divets making the wood look stressed. But overall very lovely. It does polish nicely with Howard's Bee's Wax. I do show all in the pictures. Please be sure to check out my! The ones on the side open and there are 12 pegs for storing spools of thread. One side only has 11. From there, you can open up the side compartments which are expandable and foldout. There are two drawers under each of the thread holders. In the center are two deep drawers so there's lots of room to store all sorts of items. There is a handle for easy carrying. I love the dovetail corners and the peg feet! It is large and measures 19 inches wide. 12 inches tall and 10 inches deep. It is stamped Romania on the bottom. It is in good condition. The drawers and sides ... moreopen without any problems. The outside has marks and light scratches. I think it just gives this chest character. But a project could be to strip it down and bring it back to its former glory! On one side the bottom piece of board is sagging just a tad, it doesn't impact anything but I mention it for accuracy. This is Japanese treasure box with ornate lions and clasps encloses a beautiful empty amber decanter and matching shot classes. Which have never been used, all supported by red velvet. Two shot glasses are out of their paper, two are still wrapped and marked"J.G.I.A. PASSED" on a red stamp. Outer box still has gold foil label marked"Made in Japan. There is one slight white mark on one side of the box(see photo) Otherwise in near perfect condition. Chest measures 8 1/2" X 6" X 6"

Selling a antique box found in an estate. This box at one time held cigars. On the bottom of the box is stamped Fact. no. 584 1st dist. of Pa. 1oo The cigars herein contained were manufactured to retail fro not more than five cents each and are so tax-paid. Notice the manufacturer of the cigars herein contained has complied with all the requirements of law. I can not read the rest very good but has something to do with penalties of law. I believe that this was once a display case in a store. Family that lived in this estate did at one time own a general pharmacy around 1900. This is a box that looks like an old chest. It is decorative. There is a deer or stag on the top. I don't know if that is just decorative or if it signifies the type of cigars. The box is dovetailed. It measures almost 12 inches by almost 7 inches by 5 inches in height.The ... morebox is made of cedar and has a nice cedar smell. The lining of the box is mitered wood that appears to be a different kind of wood and is loose and can be removed. It is a very nicely made box or chest. The condition is very good there is some crackling of the finish on the top. The deer has been etched into the wood and then gold applied.
