It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. But it could be used for a variety of things and is such a great find for that eclectic, Hollywood Regency look! I'm not sure but I believe it is vintage because of the handles are very similar to other pieces I've had from the 1940's to 1960's. Plus I can't imagine they would make modern pieces for the purpose of storing silver, but then I may be wrong. The top tray flips open for red velvet-lined storage. The velvet is in great shape- no rips or stains. But it may need a vaccuuming. This portion measures 4.75"tall x 19" wide x 13" deep. The top drawer is false to accomodate for the flip top. The second and third drawers are also lined with red velvet. The velvet is in great shape- no rips or stains. But it may need a vaccuuming. These drawers measure 2 1/8" high x 18" wide x 13" deep. Lastly the bottom doors open up for a 11.5" high x 14.75" deep x 19" wide storage. This piece has been painted recently to an off-white/ ivory/ eggshell white. The beautiful handles are brass. In very good condition except for a small. 2- 3" flaw on the top of the flip lid(please see the photos below) I'm not sure what this is- looks somewhat like a split in the top layer of the wood? It doesn't go all the way through and doesn't look like it will flake off. It definitely does NOT detract from the operation of beauty of it, but I thought it was worth mentioning nonetheless. This is a very lovely and unusual repousse antique shoe box. These boxes were meant to sit on the fireplace hearth to hold shoes. Keep them warm, and to dry dampness. The outer box is lined with tapestry fabric on 4 sides(front, sides and top) The box sits on 2 pieces of wood which acts as feet and raises the box 1" off the ground. This box would easily hold 4-6 pair of shoes. I am not sure of the age, but with style and age factors on the metal and wood, I would guess over 100 years easily. Shabby AWESOME Old PRIMITIVE Antique Wood CHEST w/ Tray
This old wood chest has been repainted crisp white and sanded to restore the aged and worn. Shabby look. There are two buckles on the front, brass handles on the sides and a metal tag on top which states, Berkeley Forge" The tray can be removed if desired. This chest has endless uses! It measures 16" side to side. 10" front to back and 9" high. The tray is 2" deep. There are lots of different nails used to make this chest, so I figure it must have been handmade at home. Vintage Oneida Community wooden storage chest. Bottom drawer. Top hinged lid. Kenized lining prevents tarnishing. The lining is mostly in very good condition. There is one small worn spot on the white area of the lid Pic#8. The hinge works fine and the drawer opens and closes. There are some nicks and scratches on the wood. Restoration of this chest would be a good project and shouldn't be much work. Light sanding and restaining should do it. I believe the wood is walnut. Dimensions are 11.5 x 17.5 x 7.5" Weight 10 lbs. 1960's jewelry chest features double glass and wood doors on hinges with magnetic close. A necklace claw and two shelves, and a mirrored back wall in the necklace compartment. It is a good solid peice of furniture, as it weighs 3llbs 9oz. Height is 8 1/2 in. Width is 8 in. Inside is 31/2 in. deep Total outside depth is 5 3/8 in. The chest is in good condition but a peice of the hardware under the left door is missing. It has a scratch on the top and a couple of fine scratches on other locations. And unusually the chest was not used hinges for its joints at all. Was just used wood cut lock-in joints, and it has also beautiful wood grains and old natural patina all over the surfaces. It is rectangular form. Fitted with thin iron mounts and circular lockplate with hasp. And with an original lock(key missing) It’s in very good codition without any major damages. The top is approximately 36 1/4" l x 9 3/4" w x 29 1/2" tall. The bottom is approximately 43" l x 17" w x 24 1/2" tall. One of the glass doors is broken where the handle was attached and will need to be replaced. We still have the handle so you could still use it and they would match. We're not sure of the wood. But we believe the interior of the bottom section is satin wood. It is in overall nice condition, it does have some marks appropriate to age and use. The felt lined in the drawers are in very good condition. The drawers are dove tail. The wood chest has very minor wear. There are a few small nicks, one on the back and 2 on the left side bottom. Nice Old Antique Trunk. I am not sure of the exact age. But the lock on it is from Eagle Lock Co. Eagle lock was in business from 1833-1954. So the age of the trunk lies in that time frame. It is adorned with black metal trim and ornate brass accents. This old trunk does show it's age in places. But there is nothing major. A few nicks, and there are a few dents or ding marks in the black metal trim. On the top front you will see there is 2 areas of chipped or worn off wood, a small amount enough to where wood putty filler should be an easy fix if you wish. There is also a very small chip place on the side you can see in pic 6. One of the hinges on the back is missing one button, see pic 9, and there is some separation on some of the brass corner pieces you can see in pic 12. I think I have mentioned every flaw. RARE Antique Duophoto Copier from 1930's New York Patent #2127601 Wood Chest
This is a very rare antique. It is a Duophoto copier from the 1930's. The patent# is 2127601 and it was made in New York. This was one of the first electrified copiers which paved the way for companies like Xerox. I have not seen another like it anywhere online. So information is very hard to come by on this piece. I was able to find the patent papers on google which I have included in the last photo. This is an attractive antique with the original iron latches and leather straps on the sides. The chest opens up to show the copier surface of glass. there are compartments on each side. There is also a drawer on the bottom of the chest in the front.The right side has some electrical components and a cord that can be plugged into the wall. There is a very cool timer on the front which still works. There is also a knob that is marked Positive ... moreand Negative. On the side of the chest has a switch and a place to plug in the female end of an electrical cord. There is a vent in the back. I unscrewed the vent to show you the inside of the chest. There are light bulbs lining the inside perimeter of the box. There are yellow bulbs and white bulbs that alternate. All bulbs are present. The front of the chest has a great metal name plate that says the name of the company and information about this particular copier. It doesn't work at the moment. I suspect some rewiring is needed. It measures 29"x 15 3/4" x 13 3/4" I would guess that it weighs around 40 pounds. There are some places where the wood is chipping on the sides, but this isn't too severe. Wood Chest on a Wood Stand(top chest removes from base) The chest itself measures about 18" across x 12-1/2" wide 10" in height(stands 21-3/4" in height w/ the base) The wood chest is a distressed brown stain finish w/ metal decorative front closure and side handles. Chest has dovetailed construction. I think this is pine wood, not sure. The base is a black stain finish. Very nice condition. I used in my closet area and used for storing my evening bags. It really wasn't used very much and being in a closet there was no sunlight or wear visibility. The wood chest removes from base. Combined weight is about 12- 13 lbs. unpacked. ANTIQUE JAPANESE TAISHO ERA 5 DRAWER TANSU DOCUMENT CHEST SOLID PAULOWNIA WOOD
Known as a chobadansu. This chest was made and used about 85 years ago in the late Taisho period(c. 1925) The chobadansu, or document chest with locking drawers and doors, was used to store an individual's or shop's accounts, documents, and valuables(note: key included) This tansu chest is made of solid kiri(paulownia) wood and hardened hinoki wood peg construction(see pictures 10& 11) All the hardware is made of hand forged copper. All drawers as well as doors move easily without binding. The chest has five drawers. And two sliding doors. The key seen in picture 9 operates both drawer locks as well as the door lock. All locks are still operable. This chest has a 80+ year old warm aged patina and remains in very fine condition and should serve one well for another century of use.
