I just got this wonderful set of six stacked boxes at a small estate sale in Maine last Sunday. They are in the Shaker style and are very finely crafted. The lids go on/off very easily. There are no dings. Chips or cracks and they have a fine finish that has darkened a bit with age. They measure 4 1/2" 6" 7" 8 1/2" 9 1/2" and 11" They have been together quite sometime as seen in the slight fading on the lids. I do not see a maker, but these are very nicely crafted and are next to the best as it would be about impossible to ever find a set of original antique ones. CHINESE RETRACTABLE HAIR STICKS- circa 1920's Two small wooden boxes each containing Two retractable hair sticks in metal and bone Genuine and Good Condition The items that are for sale consist of two small wooden boxes that measure 10.3cm in length and 2cm in depth and 1 cm in height. They are decorated with a chinese design on the top. The lids slide along to reveal two metal tubes that are decorated in a black and red design and measure 9cm in length. You tilt the tube and a white bone stick then slides out and by turning the bone stick then it is fixed into position into any length that you want. Neither item has any damage and are in good condition but there are some marks on the white bone stick that indicate they may have been used These items were brought back to the UK. 3 very nice carved Asian designed with people and sites wooden boxes. Each with a lid and a brass lock except the smallest box has no lock but a lid. Each is lined with a red paper like felt. Science are of Chinese men together and Families and Religious men either out side in country site or in home. The boxes come in good condition there are some minor nicks and scratches. The boxes are in fairly good condition. The lot includes three(3) Pencil Poppers" that are approximately 7 1/2 inches long, one Little Neck Bottle Plug, approximately 7 1/2 inches long, and one white popping plug, approximately 4 1/2 inches long. The condition of all these lures is well used, but fully intact, including the hooks. The wooden bodies are solid, the paint is in good condition, clear eyes, an the hooks are solid but rusty. The rack measures 13 3/4" long and stands 4" tall at the back at its highest point, all the containers are wood with wooden knobs they all measure appro. 2 3/4" tall and are appro. 2" wide. Japan is stamped on the bottom of each one. They are all in very nice condition and look as if spices were never put in them. 6 different boxes with cinnamon. Cloves, nutmeg, paprika, salt and pepper. There is also very nice wheat painted on the front. Not sure of the era but was obtained from an estate sale of a women of 101 years old. TWO BOXES. 3 5/8 X 2 3/8 inches, 1 inch high when lid is in place. Inside each are wrapped toothpicks, each box has black paper with white graphics label on bottom: MADE in JAPAN. Both for one price. 1. Red Japanese script character, inside are 12 individually wrapped 2 3/8 inch round wooden toothpicks each wrapped with strip of paper with print on it, and little sheet with dancing monkey and script. Burned script impressed in bottom surface. 2. Painted design with script on cover of box and inside cellophane package with(I think) 8 paper wrapped picks. No other markings on box.
