This is a very interesting older milk crate from Risdon of Detroit Michigan. Research I've done tells me Risdon was in business in the early 1950's. I'm not sure if they are still operational or when they may have stopped. This crate is about 10.5" tall and measures about 13.25" square. It has 4 cut out handle slots and the bottom has a series of spill holes. This crate is all gray. At first I thought it might have been all metal but I believe the sides are painted wood with metal at the top. Sides and bottom. I'm including 5 large quart size glass milk bottles and one smaller pint size. 4 of the bottles are Bordens. The other quart size and the pint size are 5 cent Universal Store Bottles. It has waffer dividers and is in good condition. Two of the dividers cracked half way and have been reinforced with a piece of metal. This was done when the crate was used in produciton. One of the sides as a peice of split wood but is still solid. There is print on all four sides. On both long sides. Red lettering Drink Coca-Cola in Bottles(in the old Coca-Cola Script) One side the lettering is hard to read. It looks like it was stamped on twice. On both short sides there is red lettering but it is not readable. Yoohoo chocolate drink with the original label INTACT, Orange Crush, Coca Cola, Fanta, Pepsi and RC Cola. The bottles have their original metal caps and have never been opened. Antique vintage wood advertising shipping crate box Power-lube Motor Oil tiger
For sale is a rare antique vintage wood advertising shipping box or crate for Power-lube Motor Oil. Approximate size is 24" long X 13 1/2" wide X 11 1/4" tall. Printing done in black. Front says. Power-lube Motor Oil' Smooth as the tread of a tiger' with a great image of a tiger printed. One side says, 100% Pure Pennsylvania Oil Guaranteed' other side says, Power-lube Motor Oil Refining Company No. 3' and the back of the box has a shipping number, 16' printed on it. Box is constructed with nails that have rusted over time. Printing is all legible, but box is a little dirty, some light scratches, and the inside has some white material like some cement had been spilled. Box is tight and strong and heavy, so shipping costs apply. Not a dated piece, but anywhere between the 1920's and 1940's.
