It makes a great gift for that hard to buy for brewery enthusiast, particularly if there is a home town attached to the memory. Crates are often used in antique displays or to hold bar accessories or as book cases. Dallas Texas About Royal Crown Company Inc. Originally called the Union Bottling Works, was born in Columbus, Ga. in 1905. A young graduate pharmacist, Claud A. Hatcher, began creating his own soft drinks in the basement of his family's wholesale grocery business. From these humble beginnings, Royal Crown Cola Co. grew to be the third largest soft drink company in America. At first. The Hatcher Grocery Co. purchased bottled drinks from a local bottler and resold them to its grocery customers. Vintage FAYGO SODA Wooden Crate. Very Good Condition. Faygo Remembers!
Up for auction is this terrific vintage FAYGO wooden carrier. I've had it in my direct possession since. At least 1980, because I stored my record albums in this crate in my college dorm. This crate measures approximately 17" tall X 12" wide X 12" deep. The writing is clear and the color is vibrant. The wood is sturdy and strong. And the edges are protected by a metal band. The crate is also marked DETROIT 7. MICHIGAN. The two larger interior panels have each have a faint red FAYGO stamped on them. Also, on the interior, a smaller red stamped 11- 66 with the name of the company that manufactured the box. I'm assuming that the box was manufactured in November of 1966. It also has the wooden box manufacturer's stamp, but I just can't read it clearly. According to Faygo's history website. The shield on this ... morebox was introduced in the 1940's.
