UNIQUE Adorable FACE Vintage Winged CHERUB ANGEL PUTTI Shelf Sitter 12"T Lifelike. Childlike, this is a unique adaptation of a popular ANGEL CHERUB PUTTI sitting figure. We believe it is cast plaster and dates to 1960s. The angel was gilded at one point and may have been regilded. The hand-painted face was a later addition and it adds a striking look to the piece. It measures 12" tall and approximately 7" wide and deep(front to back) This is a replica of a Victorian angel that dates to the late 1800s; this rendition is unique in the facial expression. It is in great condition. There is minor flaking on the back, the left wing tip is gone but has been regilded and there is a greenish cast here and there- almost a verdigris finish to the gold painted surface. It is an interesting look.

Hand crafted. This solid 100% bronze sculpture is handmade, and was cast using the"Lost Wax Method" and mounted on a marble base and is signed A. Moreau. The process of bringing a bronze sculpture to life using the lost-wax method is something you'll appreciate after taking this tour- Enjoy. Here Artist original clay sculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or ... morewax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold. Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Surround with Summer Cover Art Nouveau Putti Angel
Description For your consideration is this fine cast iron fireplace surround circa 1900 with the original matching summer cover. An outstanding example with gilt painted putti holding a torch and surrounded by more putti. Floral designs and ribbons. The piece has a nice overall dark brownish patina. It is likely that the gold accents have been recently restored as I would have expected it to show more wear after 100+ years. The outer dimensions of the surround are 30 1/8"H x 24 1/2"W. Dimensions of the opening are 20 1/4"W x 25" H. It is in excellent condition save for one of the knobs on the summer cover which is damaged as shown in the pictures. At the top right of the surround. It appears that a screw hole has been filled in- not sure if this was a repair or if it was always this way. You can see a corresponding hole ... moreon the back where the side column attaches but I can't see any reason why the hole on the front would have been filled in unless the screws were simply mis-aligned from the get go. In any case, it is not very noticable and appears to have been there for quite some time. This lamp was made by the Pittsburgh company which went out of business about 1926 so based on that information and the style of this lamp I believe it was around 1910. The Pittsburgh stamp is on the inside of the base after removing the face plate. This lamp was probably originally intended as a newel post light. Here we have an adorable pair of wood carved putti that is said to be from a convent that was being torn down. They were saved by the contractor and I purchased them at auction a few years ago. The age is undetermined but the building was erected in 1812. From my research. The paint and technique all appear to be correct for the mid 19th century. I believe they are hand carved and likely Italy is the place of origin. These gorgeous little angels are showing their age but in good condition still. They are carved from one piece of wood. Their paint is intact but showing some wear. There are a few random woodworm holes on each piece and the hangers have been changed several times it appears. This Cherub/Angel/Putti Lamp is Colorful. Unique and Rare! The winged cherub/putti stands on a metal pillar and marble base holding a torch OF GOLDEN LEAVES FLARING OUT INTO A 3 LIGHT FIXTURE with 3 glass shades. Inside the lamps have cardboard fittings which also dates it. Art Deco. Authentic Period Lighting, interior decorators, bed and breakfast decorators and anyone wanting an authentic period lighting, this lamp could be yours! I have researched for several months now and cannot find another like this with 3 lights. It is a heavy painted metal with marble foot. It measures 24 inches in height. Top width is 16 inches. Base is 8 inches. Wt is heavy at 14 pounds. My best guess is circa 20s maybe earlier! I can see the original wiring at the bottom of the lamp where it has been spliced in a later decade. The original wiring is cloth wrapped ... moreor possibly silk and it has a sheen to it. Works as is. Have to plug it in to turn on. I can send more pictures which show the original wiring if needed. It works like this but you can see the splicing on the bottom so I would definitely have it rewired by your local expert. The last picture shows an area where the 3 cords come through and that area turns. I did not turn all the way and I don't know anymore than that. I have left it alone! The lamp has no serious issues. No breakage or repairs. Quite original with it's beautifully aged patina to the metal but has few areas of the paint scratched. Wonderful Old Hand Carved and Painted Putti or Angel Sconces / Shelves pair
This is a wonderful old pair of hand carved and painted shelves. I am not sure if they are considered putti or angels or cherubs. They are slightly primitive and I have no idea of the age. I bought them at a very eccentric estate sale. One of the largest collections I have ever seen. There is a chip on the edge of the shelf on each one, both photographed. As you can see, there are some cracks in the wood since the angels are obviously carved from a solid piece of wood.
