I have a sneaking suspicion this was originally with a clock where the plastic cover now is. It can be used to hold a picture. There is very old glue residue around that area on the back. It is a very nicely detailed piece of vintage artwork. Very nice patina. The only makers mark I can find is a#7 at the top of the back of this piece. Approx. 9 5/8" tall. Up for auction is a group of four antique Eckert German porcelain winged cherub figurines playing instruments. Beautiful detail and hand painted features. Each one has at least one chip or repair. The xylophone player's mallet is chipped. The violin player's violin is chipped and so is his bow, the lute has a repair near the left hand, the flute player's wings each have a repair and are both missing the tips, the tip of the flute is chipped but included. Up for auction here is a very fine pair of rococo style majolica or faience hand shaped pottery figurals of a winged angel with instrument. The decoration is hand painted. And from the close-up images of their hair, they were hand sculpted. The pierce cut bases with scrolling rocaille are in the rococo style and each has a hand painted maker mark in brick red of an anchor with rope. The colors are pastels and the style is reminiscent of Cecil Beaton artwork. These are two exceptionally well-done putti in tin-glazed earthenware. Each ceramic cherub stands 6" high. Only one spot of damage on one, as seen in the images, a loss to a tip of the lyre and thumb on one figure only. Original C18th Century Louis XVI French Bronze Putti Angel on Marble Base 1700s
A very beautiful and charming French bronze putti or angel holding a flaming torch. Circa 1780. This sculpture is from the Louis XVI period of the last quarter of the eighteenth century. The putti is finely modelled with crisp and delicate features; the hair and face are incredibly detailed and the feathers on the wings are exquisitely chased. He is still standing on his original two-coloured deep red and green marble base. The bronze has developed a wonderful dark lustrous patination achieved over the last 240 years. This is a rare surviving antique artwork from the time of the Ancien Régime of France. And was made prior to the revolution that saw an end to the French nobility and the beheading of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. It is very much for the true collector or Francophile. Condition: The putti is in wonderful condition. Patination ... moreof the bronze is good and even. And the marble base only has a few minor nicks, as one would expect of a piece of this age. Magnificent antique Victorian circa mid 1800's carved natural color red coral full body sculpture. Cherub Angel Putti Brooch. The carving of this coral cherub is of Museum quality and one of the finest Italian master carvings we have seen in our many decades of collecting. His full figural finely detailed face and body is reminicient of the works of the Botticelli angel paintings. The cherubic cheeks, finely detailed fingers, toes, feet, and all the body parts are so life like, even the knees, legs, musculature, and down to his belly button, the entire piece is complete like a miniature coral sculpture. He is mounted with his original 14k gold pin back which closes tightly and securely. He is clasping the coral drapery in both his little hands and draping it around his body, the drapery is deeply carved with many swirls and folds. Rare Victorian circa mid 1800's carved natural color coral cameo winged cherub/angel earrings. These winged cherub earrings are just fantastic. Exceptional carving is masterfully done. And each earring has subtle differences, and they were'carved to be a pair' as the angels face each other or away. These were worn with the carved coral cherub brooch I have up now, but they are not a set even though they are the same period and possibly done by the same Italian master carver. They were both purchased over 30 years ago from the same estate. The detail is amazing. They dangle and move in 3 parts, and look wonderful on. The setting is original 1800's and they test to be 14K yellow gold. The tops are reallyof the era, they open from the backside as shown in the photos, very early Victorian or Georgian period. This is a small vintage Wächtersbach figurine of a putto(in German) putti or angel/cherub. It's marked Wohlfahrts-steingut in auftrag gegeben von ihrer Königlichen Hoheit der grossherzogin von Hessen und bei Rhein. That more or less means this is a piece of stoneware commissioned by her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess of Hessen and bei Rhein. The ceramic is only 4 inches(10cm) high. It has a small cherub with a bouquet of blue flowers over her shoulder. The base is a grayish color. It was designed by Ernst Riegel and dates to about 1912. No chips or cracks. AWESOME CAST IRON PUTTI. This is for a really old cast iron putti. Its the real deal and so hard to part with. He is cast iron and from its base you can see how old he is. The base is a bit chipped up and his head has cracks in it all to be expected from age. Great to sit around or to put in one of your pots with your flowers around it. Measures: about 11.5" tall weighs 5.6 lbs. Antique German Paper Punch Embroidery Motto Cupid Putti Angel God Love Chenill
This Listing is for a Great Antique Victorian German Paper Punch Embroidery Motto with a Cupid/ Putti/ Angel done with different gold/ silver/ metallic thread and very colorful Chenille. Great Colors and theme. Putti seems to be of celluloid or like but I am not sure. A close-up image suggests some kind of fabric with warps and wefts. Replaced in a modern gold tone aluminum frame under glass as shown. Ready to display. In excellent antique displayable condition with minor loss and few tears to paper ground as shown. None really noticeable or visible. Right pane of punch papers shows under mat about 1/8 inches as shown( interior of mat was cut 1/8" too much) This is not really critical. It could be left alone and or re-matted) The motto was taken out of its original frame which was in poor shape. With aged mat replaced with the one shown,and ... moreplaced in the aluminum frame as shown. Visible image size of 10 3/4 inches by 13 1/8 inches and frame size of 15 1/4 inches by 18 1/4 inches by 1 inches depth. Has Hardware and wire for hanging. Very fine and beautiful example.
