ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE 21-1/2" WOOD OVAL TRENCHER DOUGH BOWL This nice trencher dough bowl was acquired recently from an estate in Hanover County. Virginia. T his primitive wood dough bowl was carved from one piece of wood and shows a wonderful old patina. It is 21-1/2" long x 11-1/2' wide and 2-1/4" deep. It remains in very good condition just showing general aging and usage including a knot hole on the rim. Up for auction is a Rare Primitive 19th Century AAFA Buttercream Dough Bowl. A hole is present for hanging bowl. Approximate outer diameter: Measures 13 and 7/8 inches on one diagonal and 14.5 inches on the other diagonal. Approximate height 3.75 inches. A light application of beeswax/mineral oil for old wooden dough bowls and chopping blocks has been applied to nourish the wood. Which should be done periodically to preserve fine older historical pieces. 12 very detailed pictures show the particularly nice age appropriate condition with character effects of paint chipping, scratches, cuts, with no repairs. I love the rich true aged buttermilk color, the simply exquisite primitive patina, and the excellent aged condition. Huge Antique Primitive Hand Carved Wood Trencher Dough Bowl
For your bidding consideration: A Huge Antique Primitive Hand Carved Wooden Trencher Dough Bowl. This remarkable large primitive bowl is in great antique condition. With the exception of an approximate 4" split on one side at the top center. The bowl is still strong in spite of this, but I am not an expert on wood repairs, so have left it as is for the next owner to repair or not. There is an indented/shaved area next to the split where possibly the bowl may have fallen and caused the split. There is a similar indent on the outside of the opposing side of the bowl, but no split. Neither of these areas are weak or look to be in danger of further breakage, but these rough areas have a lighter wood tone and are noticeable to the eye. The bowl has a lighter tone band on both sides that extend down as far as the base, and I don't know ... morethe reason for them because they don't seem to be repairs and don't go through to the inside. Aside from these defects(which, to my eye, give the bowl great primitive character) the bowl has some minor dings and scratches, especially on the underside, and numerous cut marks on the interior, all of which would be expected for an antique wooden bowl which has been heavily used. These all attest to its history, age, and great primitive look. This bowl will appeal to those seeking the well-worn beauty and character of a true primitive piece. But its minor antique flaws obviously are too many to itemize in great detail. Please study all of the photos. I have tried to capture as much detail as possible in my photos. Ask any questions you may have prior to end of auction, and I will gladly furnish any additional information. I don't know the bowl's history or exact age, but estimate age to be mid to later 1800s. It appears to have been hand carved from one large piece of wood and has a beautiful dark wood tone(guessing perhaps black walnut, but cannot be sure) The outer surfaces have slight variations in wood tone. This is a antique bowl that has lines all around it with a edge and is a very dark patina. I found this bowl in a box lot of modern kitchen items at a local estate auction several years ago. What can I say? I got lucky on this one. It is a circa 1890 turned bowl with no cracks. The painting is very nice and well done with some normal paint wear and staining from the wood below.it measures 11 1/4 across and 10 1/2 up and down and is 2 1/2 inches tall.

Approx. 18" dia. x 5" deep. ~GREAT condition! No chips or cracks! There are some dark places maybe from a fire long ago and the very bottom has some white sap I think inside the wood grooves. Hand carved wooden dough bowl with four feet made in the early 20th Century. This footed bowl was carved from a single piece of wood. Unknown wood type but is of medium to light weight. Perhaps pine. See pics. It is approximately 13 1/2" across and from 3 3/4" to 4 1/4" high depending on the side you measure. Traits: a little wobble. One 2 1/2" surface hairline crack, some discoloration from use. This auction features an antique bowl with handle attached in a hard wood knot. May be Indian. This scoop or bowl was purchased at an estate in the Palm Springs area. This carved bowl is made of what I believe is knotted elm wood that's covered in a lovely patina and has lots of tool marks all over the bottom of this magnificent piece. Hello and welcome to my little shoppe of primitives. I am getting into the Christmas holiday and getting all of my new and old prims listed. This week I will be listing some new items so stop by and check them out. You might find something that you like or that might fit right in with your holiday decorating. Here I have these little valentine wood blocks for your tree. I have added a vintage image to the front of each one then sealed them with glass glitter. These range in sizes anywhere from 2" to 3.5" long by 2" to 2.5" tall. These have gotten holes in the tops for adding your own string. Wire or what ever you prefer. Up for auction is a RARE"KING GEORGE II PINT GRAIN MEASURER CUP. This piece is branded with the seal of KING GEORGE II. ENGLAND. It is branded on the inside with the seal of KING GEORGE II. GR was the abbreviation used for GEORGE REX( Rex is latin for King) 2 stands for KING GEORGE II. 35 below the shield stands for the year 1735. This piece is made of oak. One piece wraps around and is fastened with nails that are hammered flat on the inside. The base is attached by nails which was the method used in the 1700's. This measurer cup was found in the tiny south-east village of Tilmanstone, near Sandwich in Kent, England. It was found in the base of a hopper in a hop field, it is therefore assumed that this cup was used to measure hops to make beer. Someone spent a lot of time burning in the diamond shaped patterns. I can't begin to tell who made this and when. We got in at a sale in a small Northern Minnesota and had it on display in our house for a few years.It got a lot of interest. The entire bowl is one-piece. The two handles are carved into the single piece of wood. This took a lot of time and skill to make.
