Antique Primitive Wood Bowl With Wide Rim & Lots Use Marks
This is a nice early wood bowl with a great primitive look. Wide rim and lots of use marks. It measures 14 1/2" in dia and is nicely out of round. It is 4" tall with an 1 1/2" rim. It is in great shape except for some light burn marks around the rim as pictured and a stain in the bottom. Neither take away from the look of this nice old bowl. Antique Hand-Carved Primitive Wood Trencher Bowl - Carved Design on Handles
For your bidding consideration: Up for bid is a beautiful hardwood Antique Hand-Carved Deep Wood Trencher Dough Bowl with a Carved Design on Handles. The carving runs all the way around the rim as well as on the oval shaped handles. I'm not sure of the type of wood the bowl is made from. But it is of a nice hardwood having a gorgeous mellow wood tone. The bowl has been beautifully hand-carved from one solid huge piece of wood, except for the two handles, which appear to have been separately carved and applied later to the bowl. This is a heavy bowl, weighing almost 4 lbs before packaging, so the shipping cost is necessarily somewhat high. Any overage paid by the buyer will be refunded to the buyer's Paypal account prior to shipping. This bowl is in wonderful antique condition. Everything is in top condition with the exception of a ... moresplit that runs around one of the handles. That has either been artfully repaired or never extended all the way through. The handle is perfectly strong and stable, and the split is only noticeable on very close inspection. The opposing handle appears to have a piece chipped off the back of it and feels rough to the touch, but is also strong and this does not affect the appearance, as it is on the underside. Any other cut marks, scrapes, etc are simply the expected use and age related changes. See all photos to best assess overall appearance, age and condition) Measurements are 20 1/4" long, to ends of handles, by 11" wide, by about 4" deep. This is a gorgeous bowl to grace any home. Wow! The first thing you notice about this trencher/dough bowl is the size; this bowl is enormous! The second thing that gets your attention is the weight; this is solid wood. And appears to be burled walnut. Third is the beauty and skill with which this trencher was made. Has the original adze marks, and no straight lines anywhere, due to handcrafting and use—even has its own wormholes! This piece was probably prized and used by many generations, and somewhere along the line aquired 4 hand-forged metal(staple-like) repairs" well enough done, that after a test, I found this piece to be waterproof. It has a diameter that varies from 14" to 13-1/8" and a nice depth of 3-1/2" It features a 1-5/8" deep rim and a 3-3/4" x 4" slightly raised rimmed bottom. It remains in good condition. Primitive Antique Wood Bowl Dough Bread Fruit Salad 3x11" Vintage
Beautiful old bowl. I purchased this several years ago from a Mennonite lady who said it had been in her grandma's house since she could remember. I tried to count the rings in this wood and came up with 88. Maybe I'm wrong, but it is from an old tree! I'm not sure what kind of wood. It is a turned bowl, I can see the tool marks on the outside. It was round, but I think it dried out and now it is 11" x 10 1/4" x almost 3" high.

Vintage Signed Munising Birdseye Maple Wood Dough/Salad Primitive Bowl Farmhouse
Offered for auction is a 10 1/2" signed Munising birdseye maple wooden bowl. The Munising factory in Michigan operated from 1911 to 1955. I would say this bowl is from the latter part of that range. It doesn't appear to have been used much. But does have a few minor scratches and scrapes on the interior. Nothing that significantly mars or detracts from the finish. Primitive Antique Hand Made Wood Crock Stand Bowl Stand Pedestal Stand So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! Now here's one that you don't see every day! It was tagged as a crock stand. But you could also use it as a bowl stand or pedestal too. Another hand made oldee- it comes apart into two pieces for when not in use, and slips easily together for when you do use it. Made of solid wood, you can see that it's strictly dovetailed joints- I see no hardware in the original making- I do see one later ... morenail that must have been added to help stabilize the leg- that can be seen in photo 11- it's small and hard to notice. Set up for use, it measures 12 3/4" across(the length of each of the two pieces) and 10" between each let. The space in the center is 9 3/4" going either way- so that's measuring the flat section only- before it stats to angle up. I put one of my own crocks on the stand- it measures exactly 9 3/4" diameter measuring from the outside walls and it fit perfectly. The stand works great. Because it's two pieces fitting together but not attached in the center, you can make it wiggle back and forth as far as the center fitting will move- maybe about 1/2" at most, but that's as far as it will move because the legs are secure together. Putting the crock on it stabilized more, but I could still get it to move if I pushed it- then again, that's the design, it will still hold your crock or bowl well. It's in excellent solid and sturdy structural condition with rustic wear to the wood and finish from age and use.
