Canival or Circus Painted Wood Cut outs advertising Roller Coaster 1920's
These are from a Great-Great Uncle. He worked at the Electric Park in Kansas City as boy and he worked on the Dips Roller Coaster. Evidentialy Walter Croncrite saw the park burn down as a young boy and Walt Disney got his idea for a park fron this park since he lived a few blocks away from it as a child. The height is approc 22 inches and I have been told that these were on a billboard right outsode of the park advertising the coaster. My Uncle attended a auction of the park and procured these after it closed and evidentialy very few items remained because of the fire. Why am I selling these? Well recently unemployed is a great motivater. I am asking 1/4 of what I know they are worth but since I have no visual proof that they were in the park its hard to ask full value. This is a great vintage grain painted wood violin or dulcimer carrying case. I do believe you could also use it for carrying a violin and bow. I was told this was for a DULCIMER~I am not into musical instruments but think the carry case is a really neat old primitive. It measures 32 inches long.6 inches wide at the top end, 9 1/2 inches wide at the bottom end. It has a brass carrying handle and also brass latch closures. Corners have'finger joint' construction(from what I can find to correctly identify the type of corner joint)and is a really nice vintage wood and wood grain painted primitive dulcimer carrying case. For your consideration is an old Asian hand painted box. It was purchased from an estate sale so I do not know the origin. Since the painting is subtle. I would venture to guess it is from Japan. The box is trimmed in gold and decorated with birds, flowers and leaves. It slides open from the end. I think it might have held a fan at one time. The box measures 8 1/2 inches long and approximately 1 1/2 inches wide. There are no chips or cracks but the paint is showing some wear. There are no identifying marks. It is a charming old piece. 48 INCH WOOD HAND PAINTED NO WAKE ZONE 5MPH SIGN NAUTICAL SEAFOOD (#S185)
WHITE BOX AND BUOYS ARE NOT INCLUDED! This is a 48 inch wide X 5+1/2 inches tall wood sign. It has been hand painted onto 3/4 inch thick wood plank. Our signs are put onto salvaged lumber and or beachcombed wood we find after winter and spring storms that have washed lumber and other wood debris onto the beaches. We also use reclaimed wood that was destined for the landfill. We did sand all the edges to make sure there were no bad slivers or ruff spots and to give it that worn look. The newly cut ends have been painted and sanded to give them a matching worn look like the rest of the wood sign. It can be rested against a wall on a shelf or you could screw these to the wall or post also. Some of the wood is cracked. Warped and worn from salt water and sand blowing on it.
